Guest guest
Nita, Juicing is a phase I have been through. I found it useful in the early stages of detoxification and going raw. Also it is a neat way of putting fresh fruit and veg down child and guests. Thus it is a useful tool and a good backup when you go on a fast. For that matter you can even do a juice fast. Of course it removes the fibre and anything juiced goes down hill fast. A juicer is a great idea when starting out. However the utility will go down as time goes on, I think Peter Nita Crabb <Nita wrote:Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group and just getting interested in a raw foods diet. I've been vegetarian for over four years. I am interested in getting a juicer, but have also seen the Vitamix in both print ads and in person at Costco recently. I don't have any health problems at present (that I know of, of course <G>) and wonder if keeping the fiber and other components of the veggies/fruits would be best. Just curious...do most of you juice alot or stick to the whole fruit/vegetable??? Anyone have a Vitamix and use it? Is it worth the cost? I am enjoying your posts so far and really appreciate how respectful you all are of the different stages people are at. You are an intelligent and helpful bunch. Thank you! ~Nita
Guest guest
Juicing has an extra bonus. It makes the nutrients more bio-available especially the trace minerals, which is often lower than it should be in our body. Fred SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! Guest guest
> Juicing has an extra bonus. -- Juicing makes the fructose readily available and with the fiber removed, it's quickly absorbed into the blood stream. This makes the blood sugar rise and the body's proctective mechanism jumps into play and the pancreas shoots insulin into the bloodstream to convert the excess glucose to glycogen. But the insulin has many other effects on the body and before you buy that juicer I'd suggest checking this out: http://www.syndrome-x.com/ After perusing the page if you're not inclined to order the book, here's an alternate site with the basic information in it. *****Please note that I do not endorse the host of the following site as he has special interests to promote, such as grass fed beef and fish oils, but the interview with Dr. Rosedale is above board and very informative. Again, before purchasing that juicer please read the entire 4 page article at: http://www.mercola.com/2001/jul/14/insulin.htm After having read all this, I still juice occasionally during a juice fast bt I'm very careful to drink no more than 1/4 glass full of juice at one sitting. rusty - " fred lieberman " <fred_lieberman <rawfood > Saturday, July 12, 2003 6:07 AM RE: [Raw Food] To juice or not to juice. > Juicing has an extra bonus.
