Guest guest
I wonder if any of you can help me with a doubt. For some reason, whenever I eat raw spinach I get increadibly nauseated - in fact, the more I eat, the more I feel like throwing up. I have no idea why this happens. There are also some fruits that gime a VERY SLIGHT feeling of nausea, so I can't eat more than one piece and I never crave them, though I do eat them for nutrition purposes. It's the case of apples and kiwis. Does anyone have a clue on why that is.
Guest guest
You may be reacting to the pesticides or fumigants on the foods you mentioned. Try organic and see if that helps. Guest guest
ysaydaooyc Apart from Fred's suggestion, it could also be some sort of allergy or even nature's way of telling you that this is not the food for you. Obviously you need to hunt around, but in your shoes I would think about a small fast. That always sharpens up the appetite, clears up minor problems and resets the digestive system. Of course this is just a clue as requested. If you search long enough, I am sure the full answer will come out. Spinach contains a high oxalic acid content, which according to what I've read, causes a slight numbness of the tongue, and maybe that's the " toxin " making you nauseated. Some of the oxalic acid is destroyed by cooking in plenty of water or blanching. You might try baby spinach; it tastes less bitter to me. That said, listen to your body. If something makes you nauseated, then don't eat it! I don't believe there is any ONE food that the body absolutely requires. You can find the nutrients contained in spinach in other foods. Same with apples and kiwifruits. We all have likes and dislikes for certain foods, for whatever reason. I love bananas when they are not overly ripe. But if the skins are speckled and the flesh mushy, I find them distastful. Same with kiwifruit; if they are too soft, I can't eat them. And I only like the crisp, tart variety of apples. - Janet
