Guest guest
There's no peer-reviewed literature (to the best of my knowledge) on raw foods and diabetes. But you might want to check out pcrm.org, which is undertaking a a study on a vegan approach to diabetes. If you use the following search terms in google, you'll find good information. site:pcrm.org diabetes I realize that it's not a raw approach, but it's orders of magnitude better than the standard American Diabetes Association approach! Here's a description of an earlier study that they did. http://www.pcrm.org/resch/clinres/diabetes.html On Mon, 28 Jul 2003, Jann Griffiths wrote: > Can anyone tell me where I can find some information on the effects of a raw > food diet and diabetes? > > thanks > jann > > > > >

Put " raw food diabetes " into any search engine and you should find plenty of information. Hope that helps, Bridgitte
Guest guest
Dr. Graham gets Type 2 or Adult Onset Diabetics get off of insulin within one month. He's even had good success with Type 1 Diabetics by being able to lower the amount of insulin they needed quite dramatically. The general principle is to eat a low fat diet. The high fat in the diet keeps the insulin levels high and the sugar in the bloodstream much too long. The guar gum, pectin and other fibers in fruit are now being used separately to help diabetics lower their blood sugar levels. Wouldn't it be better to eat the whole fruit and keep the fat consumption low? Here's a basic experiment that has been done repeatedly. The first time it was tried was by a doctor in the 1920's. He had medical student's try this experiment. For one week these students ate a very high fat diet. They had to stop the experiment after that one week because they all had blood sugar readings indicating that they had become diabetic. Then I believe they took those same students and fed them a pound of sugar every day and a very low fat diet. In 11 weeks, none of those students showed signs of diabetes, so they finally stopped the experiment. This kind of experiment has been successfully repeated many times. The solution for diabetes has been known for a long time and yet I'd bet most diabetics don't even know about it. Low fat is the way to go if you are diabetic. Exercise is important as well.
