Guest guest
Just switching to vegan is a huge step for most diabetics. Brenda Davis has a great new book on precisely this topic. You may never convince your relative to go all raw, but if you offer him or her awesome raw food, it'll have some influence. Invite him or her to raw food potlucks... or make a whole meal yourself... Guest guest
Hi RAVEN, We have spoken about raw foods and diabetes in this group before. You can search diabetes in the search function of the club and find any messages with the word diabetes in it. The simple answer is eating a low fat raw food diet. You can also consult with Dr. Graham as he has gotten virtually all of his diabetic patients off of insulin within a month. Many of them within a week. This is actually quite common with eating a vegetarian and low fat diet. Roger

Dr. Graham is easily reachable at the freshnet . Just join the group and in the subject line of your post say something like " Dr. D diabetes question " . He usually responds very quickly. Guest guest
I know that cedar berries are good for diabetics. Don't try to buy them in a store. Just find a cedar tree, preferably growing in the wild and gather them yourself..........Betsy - raveness2002us rawfood Tuesday, August 12, 2003 12:19 AM [Raw Food] Raw food and Diabeties Hello everyone. Guest guest
Hi Raven, I will only add a little to what was said before. If Dr. Graham is able to help you then go for it. Diabetes is a funny type of illness. It is identified by an elevated blood sugar level (the symptom), but rare is the doctor who takes the extra effort to tell you why you have it. Children up to the age of 18 who develop the condition, it is due to a virus that affects the beta cell that produce insulin (there is no genetic connection). This was known back in the early 1980's. In this case we have a decrease of insulin production. When diabetes begins in the adult one of three things is seen: Low insulin levels Normal insulin levels Elevated insulin levels In all three cases, the blood sugar will be elevated and the diagnosis is still diabetes. Condition 1 is due to problems with the pancreas. Condition 2 is a liver dysfunction (the sugar is not converted to glycogen or stored as fat. Condition 3 is a problem with the cell membrane. Sugar is not getting into the cell because of a chromium deficiency. One interesting note: Diabetes may also be due to an allergic reaction. When you remove the thing you react to the condition becomes totally reversed. That was reported by the late Arthur Coca, MD, allergist, and the founder of the J. of Immunology a long time ago.(Check out his book - The Pulse Test).
