Guest guest
I have been all raw for 51 days. I am breastfeeding a five month old. I juice veges twice a day and I have a big supper salad with no oil. I have plenty of breastmilk. My question is this: Do I get enough oil (essential fatty acids) for myself and Baby's sake, by eating raw fruits, veges, nuts and seeds? I know fats in breastmilk is important for Baby's brain. I don't trust the extra virgin olive oil from Costco and I don't have any good olive oil yet. Do I need it? How do I know if I'm getting necessary daily requirements? Thanks for the help! Guest guest
Try this site www.fitday.com you can enter your daily food intake and it will tell you what your calorie intake was, fat grams, carbs and I think sugar can't remember off hand. Very good site for making sure you are getting enough calories on a RAW diet. Also has a place were you can keep a joural and make it public if you want so others can see your journey. rawfood , jennysilliman@j... wrote: > I have been all raw for 51 days. > I am breastfeeding a five month old. > I juice veges twice a day and I > have a big supper salad with no oil. > I have plenty of breastmilk. Guest guest
First: Olive oil does not supply Omega 3 or Omega 6 Essential Fatty acids. Use cold pressed Flax oil for the Omega 3 or a " blended " Oil like Udo's Choice for the combinations of Omega 3 and 6. Avacado has lots of Omega 6 but be careful not to consume more Omega 6 than 3 because it will displace the O3. If you're a pure raw foodist and don't want to use oil you can 'bump' some flaxseed in a coffee grinder to break the shells and just eat a Tablespoonful of flax seed twice a day. Read: " Fats that heal; Fat's that kill " , by Dr. Udo Eurasmus. click on <writings> at: http://www.udoerasmus.com/productmain.htm rusty - <jennysilliman <rawfood > Friday, August 29, 2003 3:02 PM [Raw Food] Essential Fats > I have been all raw for 51 days. > I am breastfeeding a five month old. > I juice veges twice a day and I > have a big supper salad with no oil. > I have plenty of breastmilk. Guest guest
I read Fats that heal, Fats that kill by Udo Erazmus last year, and it was one of the most eye opening books I've ever read. It tells you everything you could ever want to know. Not only about what fats to eat, but also all the history of fats and all about how fats are manufactured. I like it because, although he tells you about his blend of oil, he never pushes this like some books do the product. he tells you exactly, and in laymans terms all the different ways you can get your daily allowance of fatty acids. I would think if you are feeding a baby, you will really need to be aware of the right foods to be eating. Love Shell.

When he first drafted the book, the Company 'Flora' designed an oil to his specifications and hired him to endorse it. Known as Udo's Choice " it's a big seller, but Udo is not connected to the company other that his official [paid for] endorsement of the product. The book, however, is all his own. - What he does not tell you is that we get lots of Omega 6 in our diets [avocado etc.] and the balance should be 3-1 Omega 3 to Omega 6. Udo's Choice is balanced but we should also take a bit of extra flax or salmon oil to keep our totals in balance. Udo, however, shudders at the suggestion of Salmon oil. His answer, " If you ever saw it being squeezed out of culled salmon, you'd never take it. " BTW I use Udo's Choice and a bit of lemon juice as my salad dressing. It's great. rusty - " Andy & Shell " <andy.mich <rawfood > Monday, September 01, 2003 12:59 AM Re: [Raw Food] Essential Fats > I read Fats that heal, Fats that kill by Udo Erazmus last year, and it was > one of the most eye opening books I've ever read.
