Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been a vegetarian for 8 years, and a raw-food eater for about four months. When I went raw, I stopped eating animal products, even though I had eaten eggs regularly on my cooked diet. Anyway... I started following a diet like Doug Graham's, with a high percentage of fruit and vegetables, very little fat, and no animal products. I felt great, had good energy, but my hair started falling out and getting dull, and my skin got dry. I also lost too much weight from not eating enough. I also had a few deficiencies (iron, folate, B12, and protein) but am not sure if this was a result of the diet itself, the fact that I underate, or if the deficiencies developed earlier in my life. So in response to these things, I started eating more fats from avocados, oils, and nuts, some steamed leafy greens, and some (boiled) eggs. I felt worse, I think because I was still eating a lot of sweet fruit, which didn't work in combination with the fat. I also added a product called " Goatein, " which is protein extracted at low temperatures from organic goat's milk. Anyway, I'm really clueless as to what to do now. I do not feel well at all, my hair is still falling out (but does look shinier) and my energy level is very low. I'm really depressed because I do not want to sacrifice my health, but I don't know what to do to regain it. I've also started reading all these things by Tom Billings, Chet Day, Stanley Bass, etc. who used to be raw vegans but now eat animal products because they ran into health problems. I'm really confused right now. I hear all these good things about eating a raw vegan diet, but then I hear people who say that a lot of it is lies and that your health will eventually deteriorate. Right now, I'm thinking that I shouldn't be vegan. Sorry for all that rambling, but I'm really desperate for any support or ideas. Now to the point: does anyone have any advice for me? Does anyone include raw eggs or dairy in their diets and find that it works well for them? I really don't know what to do. I don't want to eat meat, whether raw or cooked, but I don't object to eggs or dairy. Thanks in advance, PreciousSpark
Guest guest
Preciousspark33, the same kinds of things have happened to me. I lost 30 lbs and didn't feel great. I think it may just be our bodies? What blood type are you? I'm O and that may be the problem. If I were you, I wouldn't mess around with raw eggs. Guest guest
PreciousSpark I suspect that most people who get into a mess with a raw diet do so because they eat too little green leaves. A pound a day must be a minimum and with troubles even more. A good idea to read David Wolfe. Getting depressed should be avoided and the best raw cure is exercise. Walk briskly for an hour a day. Guest guest
Sounds to me as if you are going through an extremely rapid detox. Anything that I've read suggests that you stick with it. I cannot speak from personal experience on this however. Guest guest
Raw eggs are the best way providing they have not been contaminated wihth salmonella. Salmonella is common in commercial eggerys but extemely rare in organic free range eggs. Raw gives you Omega 3 and biotin, both are virtually destroyed from cooked eggs. Also the cholesterol is HDL [good] and when cooked the cholesterol is oxidized and becomes LDL. [bad]. Eat lots of mixed bean sprouts, and flax seed, sprouted or just cracked. The Omega 3 will get the skin and hair rusty > preciousspark33 <preciousspark33 wrote: > Hi everyone, > I've been a vegetarian for 8 years, and a raw-food eater for about four months. > When I went raw, I stopped eating animal products, even though I had eaten > eggs regularly on my cooked diet.
