Guest guest
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone on this board has any personal experience with either Kombucha tea or Kafir grains? Kafir can come in a milk-base or a water-base, and it's (of course) the water-based growing that I'm interested in. There's lots of information on the internet about the 2 of them, but I wanted some first-hand experience from raw vegetarians. I had a good friend in California give me some Kafir grains some time ago, but it was confiscated at the airport when I tried bringing it home here to Mass., he told me all kinds of great growing info, but now I can't find it here. Any ideas? Can either the Kombucha Mushroom or the Kafir grain be bought over the internet? Kris
Guest guest
Hi Kris, High Vibe Health and Healing (http://www.highvibe.com) has kefir grains. I haven't tried making it myself, but I've heard of people using them with nut milks with good results. Good Luck, Bridgitte
Guest guest
Hello Kris, I drank homemade kombucha tea several years ago for about 2 months. It tasted and smelled absolutely horrible. I eventually quit when I started to look sickly and my mother told me I looked almost yellow. Once I quit drinking the tea, I went back to normal. This is just my experience and maybe I didn't do it right, but I'd never try it again!! -Christi --- sisterkris2003 <sisterkris2003 wrote: > > Hi all, > I was just wondering if anyone on this board has any > personal > experience with either Kombucha tea or Kafir grains? > Kafir can come > in a milk-base or a water-base, and it's (of course) > the water-based > growing that I'm interested in. There are companies that will send them in the mail. However you may be better to find someone in your area and get one from them if you are concerned about security. There are several support groups that you can connect with in . That's how I got my first culture. All the best, Donna
