Guest guest
I was just reading about cooling foods in connection with threatened miscarriage in " The Natural Pregnancy Book " by Aviva Jill Romm. She also says to " avoid all cold-natured and cold-temperature foods, including foods that have just come out of the refrigerator, cold or iced beverages, fruit and vegetable juices, all tropical fruits including citrus (unless you live in an environment where they are grown locally) and all foods out of season, including fresh salads when locally grown produce is not available. " So, this makes me wonder what I will have to eat this winter in BC that will be warming. I have already been concerned that when the rainy and cool weather begins my family and I will start desiring warm comfort goods. Can anybody send me to a good site or just give suggestions as to what foods would be warming. Right now I am eating/drinking mostly juices, salads with some nuts/seeds and little grains. My guess would be that the warming foods were probably higher in protein and or fat. We all have to find our balance for our bodies, and I imagine most of us are a little different although there are probably more than a few similarities in our ideal nutrition plans. Guest guest
No salads? I don't know about this! I would want to see a study done that proves miscarriages are a result of eating salad and tropical fruit before I would eliminate them from my diet. My take is that either you read it wrong or this is garbage. If I was you I wouldn't deprive that growing baby of lots and lots of green leafy lettuce! Guest guest
It was a quote right from Romm's book that I gave, not taken out of context, so I don't think I read it wrong. Just makes me question what somebody is supposed to eat come winter if you were to take the author's recommendation. Doesn't seem to me that there would be much left to eat raw of fruits and veggies, and have to rely on grains, nuts, seeds. Doesn't seem balanced to me. Karen....enjoying my citrus juice, lots of salad greens, & veggie juice!! - jennysilliman rawfood Tuesday, September 23, 2003 9:00 PM Re: [Raw Food] cooling/warming foods No salads?
