Guest guest
Hi all, I just wanted to touch on a subject that is very near and dear to my heart and wanted to write about-drybrushing. If you're not familiar with it, it is a method of exfoliation using a natural fiber brush (oval usually in shape) and just simply brushing your skin, taking all of the dead cells and toxins off the top layer of epidermis. This creates a dust that is probably not a good idea to inhale and can make a mess of your bathroom floor but that's what a vacuum is for, right? Starting at your heart and working in one direction down your arm, then your other arm, down your body, behind, then legs. Not only does it remove the toxins that can be emitted through your body it removes atmospheric or environmental toxins as well all the while making blood circulation rush through your body. I do this before getting into the shower in the morning and boy, if it's cold outside it'll warm you right up and wake you right up, it's exhilarating and it improves dry skin at the same time. I couldn't talk more about it, I am a fan. It's even more beneficial if you are able to take a sauna afterwards and sweat out more of the toxins, but this can be acheived also through a good workout or letting the shower run hot in a closed bathroom for a few minutes before getting in. I do not use soap on my body, I just rinse most of the time or use an Aubrey product (all natural, vegan ingredients) then I use coconut oil for hair and body while in the shower and I have greatly improved the condition of my skin in this matter (of course along with diet). I don't even have any stretch marks from being pregnant last year or the beginnings of any for this one either. Just a thought, Kris
Guest guest
Kris,All: It is also said that drybrushing activates the lymphatic system so this is looked at as a blood cleanser. I dry skin brush, and all the information I read before I started said to brush toward your heart, because the thoratic duct where lymph drains is located near it. Here's the link to a random site on the subject: http://www.coffee-enema.co.uk/products/skinbrush.html Maybe direction only makes a difference if you're brushing as part of a cleanse... *shrug* Bridgitte
Guest guest
Dear Bridgette, You know I didn't really know about this factor of dry brushing to tell you the truth, I learned to dry brush from my mother many years ago, and only started doing it about 2 years ago when a friend of mine brought the subject up. So, you see, you do learn something new everyday, thanks for setting me straight!
