Guest guest
Take a hammer and drive a nail into the top soft hole and drain out the liquid. Place the coconut on the floor on a towel and wack it HARD with a hammer until the shell has broken off. 15 seconds tops. Guest guest
I do use the towel, but just add a twist to it. Drop the cocnut in the center and draw up the four corners. This creates a sack, spin the coconut till the towel is tight around it from all sides. Give it a firm crack with the hammer you will hear the crack. Just keeps the Cocnut from going everywhere. Guest guest
Try a hammer andy.mich [andy.mich] 17 October 2003 01:11 rawfood [Raw Food] Handling coconuts. Does anyone have any tips for getting into a coconut. I bought one last week and didn't know what to do with it really. I shaved off all it's fury stuff, then took a huge saw to it. I don't mind telling you, it took me the best part of a day to get into the thing and I was exhausted at the end of it. It was nice to scoop out the coconut meat though, but not sure I'd do it again. A nice machine to do all that would be nice. Love Shell.
Guest guest
Thank you very much all for the tips on getting into a coconut. I'd never thought of using a hammer, it sounds so much easier than a saw. Thanks again, Best Wishes, Shell.
Guest guest
Note also that there are three black spots in the top. Typically one is softer than the two others and a corkscrew will usually drill a good hole for emptying out the liquid. I have heard that the average coconut is not that good to eat. The fat is in some way wrong. Peter andy.mich [andy.mich] 19 October 2003 11:54 rawfood Re: [Raw Food] Handling coconuts. Thank you very much all for the tips on getting into a coconut.
