Guest guest
I am considering doing a juice fasting. However I am a little nervous. I want to do it for spirtual and health reasons, but I also want to still continue to exercise. Can I still exercise while on a juice fasting? I decided to start with the juice fast b/c the water fast is too extreme for me just beginning and read that the juice fast would be more ideal for a beginner fast. I think I'm going to go easy and first start off with a week, and if I feel decent by the end of the week, I will continue to the next week with the fasting and so on. I'm trying to go for a month so I will take it like that. I just want to know will what detox side effects will I have, and will I have the energy to still exercise(ex: running)? Thanks so much. If so I'll start 2morrow. The New with improved product search
Guest guest
Redbone, Just my opinion but a one month fast for a beginner is a large chunk. I think you should read up the subject a little before you start. There are some serious caveats and you need to prepare. Vigorous exercise is not advised for fasters. Moderate exercise as in walking is very good. Any search engine will give you a lot of texts about fasting. You should even find a lot in the past messages of this forum. Guest guest
Yeah... ditto. Let me suggest three days for a beginner. If you can breeze through that, then extend it to five days... if you show no signs of slowing down go for the Gold and polish off a seven day fast. Trust me, seven days is quite an accomplishment. Rest for a couple of weeks then try the three day again. Detox can be debilitating for some. Good luck, Jesse - " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner <rawfood > Thursday, October 23, 2003 10:19 AM RE: [Raw Food] Juice Fast > Redbone, > > Just my opinion but a one month fast for a beginner is a large chunk. <snip>
Guest guest
I have done 2 5-day juice fasts, and had plenty of energy. Can't exercise much yet (I was 100 lbs overweight with serious back problems.) There were a few times that I was very fatigued, but that was the detox. Anyways, if you want to keep up the exercise, be sure to include a lot of greens. Add Granny Smith apples if you don't like the taste. If you are primarily drinking fruit juice, you won't have the endurance, and your blood sugar can yo-yo. If you do drink just fruit juice, be sure to SIP SLOWLY! I'm trying something different this time; I'm on day 3 of the Master Cleanse. Less complicated (just lemons to juice), but a little less energy. Part of that is because I am using the minimum amounts to facilitate weight loss. I'm down 5 pounds so far. Goal for this fast is 20-25 pounds. Guest guest
I juiced fasted for 45 days while running 5 miles each day. It was the most fulfilling and best task I ever accomplished in my entire life. I made sure my level of exercise was not to much, my point was only to be out in the sun for an hour each day. Running while juice fasting was easy. On water only fast I do not exercise, these fast I sleep more. Guest guest
thanks all for your inputs. I think I will try a 2-5 day juice fast. A month was a bit too advanced. I just feel that, even while I'm eating healthy I should clean out everything and start a new, so the things that I eat healthy then will be absorbed better. But that's just my view. I also asked around and also read where you still can run, but just don't over do it. B/c while fasting these 2-5 days I want to still be able to exercise. I'll just keep in mind how hard I stress exercise on my body these next couple of fasting days. I'll keep you all posted on my progress. Thanks again. abrs <abrs wrote:I juiced fasted for 45 days while running 5 miles each day. It was the most fulfilling and best task I ever accomplished in my entire life. Guest guest
I do get grumpy when I get hungry. But when I juice fast, I don't allow myself to get very hungry. If I get hungry without warning, I drink a glass of water, and that keeps me sane until I have my juice ready. I also juice an extra pint of carrot juice when I do my morning juice, and use it for the evening. Then I just make my green juice with a granny smith apple for lunch. If I get hungry in the middle of the day, I just drink my carrot juice, and make more for dinner. I use celery juice and a granny smith apple as a base for my green drink; then add kale/spinach/cabbage, etc. Whatever I have on hand or am craving. Cabbage gives a lot of juice, but I found it a little strong, so I only added a few leaves at a time. Baby Bok Choy is delicious! Experimenting was one of my favorite things about juice fasting. Guest guest
Rhonda, Just bear in mind that the nutritional vale of most juices rapidly falls within minutes of being juiced.
