Guest guest
Hello, I am just wondering if anybody has any ideas or suggestions to speed up the recovery of a broken toe. Yesterday, I crushed my big toe and the foot pad below it with a very heavy box and it is so swollen and painful and I can hardly walk...so, I have been resting and putting on ice...avoiding pain relievers etc...I also don't seem to have any appetite, so I haven't been eating. I really want it to heal quickly, though, because I am going to the Tree of Life on November 6th and the thought of navigating an airport in this condition is a bit daunting. I generally steer clear of herbal remedies, but I am game to try anything that might help. Thanks so much, Peace, Stephanie
Guest guest
> I am just wondering if anybody has any ideas or suggestions to speed up > the recovery of a broken toe. - Comphrey root powder. Take 4 - 6 capsules per day for 3 weeks. Or better yet if you can dig up a root and eat it fresh. If it dries out it's hard as rock. Comphrey helps the metabolization of Calcium in bone or tissue repair. It's ancient Chinese name was knit-bone. You may wish to add some Horsetail tea for the silica and MSM for the organo sulpher. rusty - " Stephanie " <guion <rawfood > Tuesday, October 28, 2003 8:39 AM [Raw Food] broken toe > Hello, > > I am just wondering if anybody has any ideas or suggestions to speed up > the recovery of a broken toe. > > Yesterday, I crushed my big toe and the foot pad below it with a very > heavy box and it is so swollen and painful and I can hardly walk...so, > I have been resting and putting on ice...avoiding pain relievers etc...I > also don't seem to have any appetite, so I haven't been eating. > > I really want it to heal quickly, though, because I am going to the Tree > of Life on November 6th and the thought of navigating an airport in > this condition is a bit daunting. Guest guest
Stephanie, I fell while rock climbing last November, resulting is a severe compound fracture and dislocated foot. It was broken in four places. A real mess. After 7 hours of surgery, I was left with 2 plates and 14 screws (way more then usual). I was told that it would take a year before the swelling would go down, and then maybe I could walk with a limp. I was told to expect to be crippled. My dr told me not to go to physical therapy, because it would be a waste. I drank a LOT of Kale juice. Tons and Tons of it. I chowed fruit as well, but really ate a lot of Kale, Collards and Chard. I was bed ridden for 6 weeks, and then on crutches for four. My Dr. was amazed how fast the breaks healed. He let me get out of bed a month early, and go back to work 2 months early. He has been amazed at my recovery. The swelling improved quickly, and then only after exercise, and now not at all. I'm 90% better, and will have half of the screws and one plate taken out next week. I expect to be 100% by year end. I can now walk 4 hilly miles with only slight pain. The big issue is the swelling. It was supposed to be a major issue in recovery, but was not an issue at all. In your case, because you smashed the toe, there will be a lot of trama. Go to mybrokenleg.com and you will get a better feel for recovery times. Divide everything by 2 if your raw. it will also make you realize how fast we heal when we are raw. Most people with simular trama as me, do not heal, or take years to get a little better. I am forever greatful to the raw lifestyle. It's one thing to expect our bodies to survive when eating SAD, but expecting it to heal is another thing. --- Stephanie <guion wrote: > Hello, > > I am just wondering if anybody has any ideas or > suggestions to speed up > the recovery of a broken toe. > > Yesterday, I crushed my big toe and the foot pad > below it with a very > heavy box and it is so swollen and painful and I can > hardly walk...so, > I have been resting and putting on ice...avoiding > pain relievers etc...I > also don't seem to have any appetite, so I haven't > been eating. > > I really want it to heal quickly, though, because I > am going to the Tree > of Life on November 6th and the thought of > navigating an airport in > this condition is a bit daunting. Guest guest
Rufus that is a great story. Stephanie, Get yourself a cabbage and pull off a couple leaves. Hit them with a meat tenderizer or hammer and wrap the toe and foot. You can go over that with an ace bandage. This works well for sprains and bruising. Keep the poultice on overnight. This should help reduce the pain in your Toe. Be sure to keep it elevated as much as possible. Definitely go with the green drinks and vegetables, as they are loaded with Calcium and all kinds of good stuff. Sorry to here of your luck, hope this helps. Guest guest
Stephanie; soak your foot in a pan of very warm water with a strong solution of hydrogen peroxide. should be strong enough to tingle. If all you can get is 3% (drug store variety) use it straight. You can heat it in a pan on the stove but do not boil it. I am assuming you have seen a doctor and had Xrays?
