Guest guest
I am very interested in any information regarding the temperature at which commercially dried fruits and vegetables are dehydrated at. Is it over 107 degrees fahrenheit at which the enzymes are destroyed ? I am referring to dried fruits such as dates, figs, apricots , bananas and any other common dried fruits and vegetables. I know places such as Natures First Law do not overheat, but I am curious about dried fruit sold at places like Whole Foods or Wild Oats or regular supermarkets. Any information on this would be highly appreciated. Bill W
Guest guest
Hi Bill, You raise a very important question. We as consumers need to know what we're buying. Are the organic dried fruits we buy really raw? And what about spices? Guest guest
Judy Spices just irritate the stomach and are not best practice for raw foodists. On the other questions on dates etc., I too am interested although currently I do not eat dried fruit as fresh fruit tastes so much better. Guest guest
My understanding is that commercial foods such as dried peppers ect. are dried at 145 degrees and that is why Raw foods people should not use them. Guest guest
all the dried fruit except sun dried apricots are heated way over 120 degrees. It is best to find an online source for low temp dried dried fruits, or ask ur healthstore to order some from the online sources like www.livingtreecommunity.com or www.sunorganic.com . Ask around... Good luck. wwoyto50 <wwoyto50 wrote:I am very interested in any information regarding the temperature at which commercially dried fruits and vegetables are dehydrated at. Guest guest
Or, we just don't eat dehydrated fruit. I don't see the need, unless your backpacking, and then foraging can be handy. --- Alex Malinsky <alexmalinsky wrote: > all the dried fruit except sun dried apricots are > heated way over 120 degrees.
