Guest guest
What do Avocado's taste like? Is the taste similar to any cooked foods? What is the consistency of that vegetalble. Anyone have recipe suggestions that are their favorite? The book I'm reading has tons of avocado recipes. I can't wait till pay day next friday to go shopping for all these vegetables and fruits which are foreign to me. I'm very excited about this lifestyle. I think it may be exactly what I've been searching for so many years.
Guest guest
I purchased two avocados yesterday and they looked nothing like the pictures I've seen in my recipe books. These avocados were really dark with a purplish green color on the outside. I thought the skin was supposed to be yellowish/green?--- In rawfood , " Lili " <ladyschaumburg> wrote: > What do Avocado's taste like? Is the taste similar to any cooked > foods? Guest guest
The dark ones are easier to peel, but the flesh is the same. Eat them immediately upon peeling or they'll oxidize and turn black. I try to buy them just when they've started to soften a little, but not too much. rusty - " Lili " <ladyschaumburg <rawfood > Monday, November 10, 2003 10:25 AM [Raw Food] Re: Avocados: How are they? > I purchased two avocados yesterday and they looked nothing like the > pictures I've seen in my recipe books. Guest guest
Lilli Some are green and some are dark brown and all taste much alike to me. In your position you could easily eat a few. Purists are really minimal on fat, You clearly com from a high fat diet slow let down is better. The avocados will alleviate your need for bacon eggs toast etc Good to take some omega 3 to balance the omega 6 in the avocados. Keep fighting Peter Lili [ladyschaumburg] 10 November 2003 19:26 rawfood [Raw Food] Re: Avocados: How are they? Guest guest
Peel an Avocado? Here is another method, Take a knife and run it around the along the avocado long ways. Grab the avocado from the apposing halves and twist. It will come apart and reveal the large seed and you now have to halves. Holding the half with the seed, chop the seed with the knife hard enough to stay and give it a twist. The seed will come loose and you will have 2 halves that have an impression where the seed use to sit. Now take your knife and slice down the inside of your avocado long ways and across. (It now looks cubed in its skin) Take a large spoon and scoop it out staying as close to the skin as possible. You can adjust the size of the cubes to your liking.
