Guest guest
There is no wheat grass juice tree in nature. So I suspect it couldn't be considered a natural food for humans or any animals for that matter. There is no fruit juice tree in nature either. Therefore, if one claims to be a Natural Foodist I don't think man made juices would fall into that category. Roger Do You Have These Problems With Your Raw Food Diet? 1. You fear that you aren't getting enough nutrients like protein, calcium, and B12. 2. You have been eating raw but aren't getting the results you expected. 3. You fear eating fruit because of its sugar content and hybridization. Guest guest
I also like the name Natural Foodist. I know people will get a very strange look on their face if you tell them you are either a vegan or a raw food vegan. But unfortunately, I think they will get an even bigger confused looking face if I say I am a Natural Foodist. I guess we better start pertetuating this definition in the mainstream media!!! I think I have been 100% raw for 4 weeks now. I wish I wrote it down in my calendar like I did when I became a vegan and was never eating less that 75% raw. It has been an adventure. I know I still have detoxing to do, but I have had no bad side effects for a couple of weeks. I tried my first wheat grass drink a couple of weeks ago, and it was o.k. I bought some wheat grass and made my own yesterday. Because the taste is nothing to write home about (yet), I mixed it will carrots and a couple apples and a couple of walnuts. It tasted better. I can't believe how good it made me feel! I felt energized. I was also surprized that it didn't take that much of the wheat grass to make it. I am going to try to drink wheat grass every day. Although I've been a vegetarian for over 24 years, and have had many " health food/health nut " phases of my life, I have had many years when I didn't eat as well as I should have. Also, even if I did eat better than most Americans, there are so many processed foods and so many with hormones, toxins, etc. even before the act of cooking. So what I'm saying, is that I'm sure I have more detoxing to do to make up for 52 years of eating cooked foods. Yesterday I ate very lightly. I had a fruit smoothie early in the day. In the afternoon I had my wheat grass juice. In the evening, I had grapes, and later a bowl of fresh pineapple, bananna and strawberries. Later in the night I ate some raw cashews. I felt a little discomfort before going to bed. I thought back what could have caused it and realized that must be what people have talked about regarding nuts being hard to digest. I guess my digestion is getting a little more sensitive. So from now on, I won't eat nuts as a snack. I will soak them and fix them in my pates or dehydrated meals. I just got my dehydrator last week but haven't made anything in it yet. I did experiment and dehydrated some mushrooms and some tomatoes. I couldn't believe how long it took for the tomatoes. Even longer than the book said. I am looking forward to going to my first raw potluck this Thursday night. To top it off, the following night I'm going to a Paul Nison lecture at a raw food restaurant where I will get a wonderful meal. What a week for me!! It's amazing on how much less food I can live on. I know that eating higher nutritous foods that our bodies can easily assimiliate makes a big difference. I am enjoying this new path. It make things even better, my husband is happily tagging along. He isn't 100% raw yet, but he wants to be and he is probably 85% at the least. When I became a vegetarian 24 years ago, he became one a year later. It only took him 4 months to get on board! It is great to have someone " with me " instead of against me or indifferent at best. But when I started, I didn't push it at him. I even continued to go out and buy him his junk. Mostly, I let him request it instead of assuming he wanted it. Along the way, he asked me to stop buying such and such. I did request that he ate some of my old favorites away from home, which he did. When he made the drastic turn around was after eating a couple delicious raw meals out and then listening to Victoria Boutenko's lecture. I also leave raw food books lying around. Once in a while, he picks one up and glances at it. You see, all we can do is be a role model. You can shove it down anyone's throats. Sorry for the long rambling post. Just wanted to pop in and tell you what is happening with me since I don't post all that often. I enjoy reading everyone's posts and hope Lili read this. Guest guest
Roger, Very good point. I love the term " Natural Foodist " , but would have to agree with you that it would have to refer to a truely natural diet. Guest guest
Subversive " Pete " is at it again. Inveigling away like a salty dog. I know who you are; you're the land shark. rawsunlife <no_reply > wrote: Roger, I know what you think about raw lifestyle because I " know " every square of your site... I agree with you. I really try to eat more " natural " than a large amount of raw foodists... I try to figure what the " human animal " would eat... It's for this I have not juicer, blender, dehydrator... I only open the fridge and eat some fruit, vegetables and nuts, or take two sardines, take their skin off and eat them.
