Start of Fast? & Toothbrushing?

This may seem like a silly question but when should I actually start

counting the beginning of my fast? The last time I ate was last night

around 11:30 p.m and it wasn't pretty. I stuffed myself because I

knew since I've now chosen to change my lifestyle binging on

processed and unhealthy foods will be a thing of the past.

However, I woke up this morning at 6 a.m., did my fast actually start

last night or when I woke up this morning?

I was also told that I shouldn't use toothpaste while fasting and

should only use a tongue scraper and baking soday. Is that true?

Thanks

Lili

p.s. I've decided to start with a distilled water fast instead of the

juice fast. My goal is to fast 3 days but I may go a week depending

on how I feel.

Do not worry about tooth paste. Probably a bad idea to swallow it.

Binging is the wrong way to go into a fast.

Go in slowly as I said before.

Do a day all raw then a day of juicing and do

not starve yourself on either.

On the third day start the water and then start the counting.

When you have had enough reverse it but above all do not reverse with a

binge

It will give stomach aches and worse.

Hi Peter, I thought about that quite awhile last night and decided I

would start with a distilled water fast vs the juice fast because of

my sugar addiction and uncontrollable urges for carbs.

Many times the sweet taste of juice is enough to make me want more

sweets or send me into a sugar binge and I didn't want to take that

chance(felt the juice would actually feed the possible candida I may

have). My reasoning is that the fast will help to ease and/or make my

sugar/carb cravings more manageable once my system is cleaner which

will hopefully allow me to precede without too much difficulty.

However, just in case I do have juices on hand if it gets too

difficult. I do agree I probably should not have binged prior to

fasting but we'll see what happens. So far I'm doing pretty good.

It's been 16 hours since I've last eaten and the only thing I've

noticed is stomach growls and a lot of nose blowing of mucus which is

great...I'm breathing a little better already.(fingers crossed):)

Lili---

p.s. I don't know if I will be able to go the entire fast without

using something to cleanse my mouth. If not toothpaste can anyone

recommend alternatives? I read that baking soda is a good choice,

what are the thoughts of everyone on that?

Lili,

Take it easy on yourself. If you are as addicted to

food as I was, it will be difficult to transition all

at once. For me what worked was quiting one thing at

a time, with one to two week intervals in between. I

just felt way too out of control quiting everything at

once, or even two things at once. Quiting one at a

time was much easier for me. For me, the following

order was important. For example, I first wanted to

eat raw food, and then quit smoking, but it was a lot

easier for me to quit smoking first, gain some weight,

then quit sugar, and then transition to 100% raw. I'm

not sure what order will work best for you, but I

believe that cooked food is addictive (sugar was

harder for me to quit then weed or booze), and it is a

lot to take it all on at once. The one at a time

approach was the way to go for me. It was

frustrating, and took a while, and I got fatter before

I started loosing weight, but in the long run, it was

the only way to go.

My order of operations for transitioning to natural

foods:

1 Alcohol

2 Weed

3 prescription and over the counter drugs

4 caffeine

5 cigarettes

6 sugar

7 go a whole day 100% raw

8 go 2 whole days 100% raw

9 go a week 100% raw.

10 no turning back.

Good luck,

Rufus

I wouldn't worry about the toothpaste. Thats a detail

you can iron out later when you have transitioned.

Just spit it out. I would brush your teeth during

early transition, because your breath will probably

smell awful.

Lili,

As Peter have said to you, it would be better a kinder way of

starting a fast, but if you have started, it's no neccesary to come

back for another beggining day...

A good detox plan would be 3 days on water, 7 on fruit, and then

starting raw eating salads and those seeds and nuts... Then, if you

cry for junk stuff, you may introduce one item at a time only for

realizing your body rejects it... You will know it for sure... Really

all is in the mind... But after 10 days of detox your cravings are

going off...

I brush my theet but don't use paste... maybe some bicarbonate now

and then, but not usually.

Good luck...

w

PS: I don't mind about how to count days... just 1/2 day up or down

is not of importance, but detoxing and sticking in your path...

Thank you Peter and Rufus for the replies. I can not believe I've

gone without food since 11:30 Sunday night...that is 33 hours so far.

Yippie!! Usually when I diet or just decrease portions I have to

fight to resist hunger and cravings. Strangely although my stomach is

growling like crazy I don't desire food or SWEETS, ha, can you

believe that. I think the stomach growls may be from habit of eating

all the time rather than hunger. My sinuses are a whole lot clearer,

I feel more relaxed, and it has only been one day. I have heard of a

lot of irritating symptoms which can result from detox, but other

than foul breath I feel pretty damn good. I even did 30 minutes of

cardio this morning and feel great. I wonder if I'll never get those

symptoms or if they'll suddenly appear on the 3rd day or so. Also, my

urine is completely clear. Although I'm not eating anything I had

expected it to be really dark yellow, but it's the color of the water

I'm drinking with an occasional very pale color.(can't think of a an

exact color name right now) I'll keep everyone updated.

You are giving your body a rest. By not adding the things you normally

crave you are breaking the physical dependency. Just keep drinking

water.
