Guest guest
Interesting site to visit I read this http://www.wbng.com/data/web_4675.shtml I think it is unlikely to be true and even if it is the idea of all that boiled foods seems unattractive to me. At the same time I wonder about some of the weak spots the author perceives on in the raw diet! Guest guest
Hi Peter. Is it true that B-12 is not available in raw food? I have heard this, but am not clear on it. If so, how is it that raw food is the perfect way to eat? How do raw foodists get the B-12? Thanks, Susan rawfood , " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner@e...> wrote: > Interesting site to visit > > I read this http://www.wbng.com/data/web_4675.shtml > > I think it is unlikely to be true and even if it is the idea > of all that boiled foods seems unattractive to me. Guest guest
Susan It is a question upon which I have got into a mess. Quite simply, I developed a B12 deficiency and I take a supplement. Now every six months I get a blood test and if some gap appears I will fill it. The danger of B12 deficiency is that irreparable damage can be done. Roger has posted a lot of messages on B12 but I am keeping my double check. Vitamin D and calories are a problem in the temperate climates. The calories mean a lot of eating for me and I spend a lot of time in the sun in the summer Peter Susan [susan_wilkinson] 15 December 2003 17:59 rawfood [Raw Food] Re: Cat among the pidgeons Hi Peter. Guest guest
Susan, If we are lucky, our bodies will produce our own B12, but this does not happen for everyone. After years of eating cooked food, our bodies sometimes forget how to make it. I feel that probiotics help the process, but have no proof of that. Just an opinion. Guest guest
>How do raw foodists get the B-12? - B12 can be produced in the body providing there is ample bifidus intestinal flora. Raw foodists generally have a heathly colony of good flora, but if you've ever been exposed to antibiotics you may want to recolonize. Take 3-4 acidophilus/bifidus capsules on empty stomach and wash down with lots of wter before each meal. Continue until the bottle is used up and then as long as you eats some green leafy vegetables daily your colony should supply you with enough B12. There is some in raw seaweed but whether or not it can survive the digestion process is not determined. rusty - " Susan " <susan_wilkinson <rawfood > Monday, December 15, 2003 8:59 AM [Raw Food] Re: Cat among the pidgeons > Hi Peter.
