Guest guest
Hi, just today because it's my time of the month, I was overcome by a craving for cooked food. It nearly knocked me over. I have had VERY little cooked food in the past two months and my body would freak out if I had what I was craving, but I felt almost crazed by my craving. What do you all do when you have a craving? Any recipes that help with cravings? Thx, Denise
Guest guest
Me? I give in. Will be interested to know how others don't. I think 9/10ths of it is a belief system. I don't _believe_ it'll hurt me too much to give in, so I do. Others believe it will, so they don't. But I'm definitely interested in others' answers. Guest guest
i find something rich helps me deal with my cravings. savoring a couple of tablespoons of raw tahini with a few drops of lemon juice helps me good. :-D that and plenty of water to fill up the rest of the stomach. *grin* Megan

Guest guest
Yeah, I generally give in, too. I have found that as time goes on I have less cravings, but do get hit hard and I do generally give in. Fortunately, I'm still able to fit those cravings into a (general) 70% raw diet. My increase in raw foods has been gradual and while I know I would probably experience greater health benefits by sticking to the play, I also know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't stick to it at all. I am trying to be generous with myself without being overly indulgent. Nina rawfood , Margie Roswell <mroswell@f...> wrote: > Me? Guest guest
When I quit smoking a little more than one year ago my psychologist gave me the best advice for my quit, and I think it's entirely appropriate in this situation as well. She said, " Concentrate on what you're STARTING instead of what you're QUITTING. " In the case of quitting cooked foods, we are STARTING to eat raw for some good reasons. If you will keep foremost in your mind why you are starting a raw diet and really focus on these reasons when thoughts of cooked foods enter your mind, it will be a lot easier to stick to the raw diet. On the other hand, if you sit around and dwell on all the " good " things you quit eating, you'll find yourself going back to the cooked diet. The shift in thinking from the negative to the positive has a tremendous amount of power. So, try to make this your positive framework: Concentrate on what you're STARTING instead of what you are quitting. Mark
Guest guest
I eat mixed raw nuts with dried raisins. And or crushed ice. Sometimes an apple and also always the first thing I do is drink a tall glass of water. I've realized some of my cravings is due to the fact that I'm just thirsty! Try drinking a tall glass of water first to see if that's what it is. And then you can test out other things!
