Guest guest
I guess that my message yesterday might not have gotten through. I currently am not on the raw food diet but I have been eating more raw fruits and veggies and juicing with much less meat products. Now I have leaky gut and many other symptoms (which have gotten much better over the last few months) candida, fatigue, acne, headaches, vulvar pain, etc. I am 25 years old and have been skinny for as long as I can remember (5ft10 and 108 pounds) CAN I gain weight on this diet? Guest guest
I think your first message did go through. I am not considered underweight but last time I bought jeans, Dec., I was a 2. I am 30 and even was a size 4 within a week after giving birth to twins!!! I have been transitioning to raw since August and some days I just give up and make it through the day, my twins are trying 2s. I was very concerned after I started more raw b/c I dropped a size. I kept eating more avocado and tried durian, even ate pasta (no. no) daily but gained 1-2 lbs. I read something that Douglas Graham wrote about on his website. He stated we are not underfat on a raw diet, we are undermuscled. That clicked with me as I have been trying to start working out again since life with kids got easier around 18 months. When that hit me, I got back to some exercise equipment I have and just let the kids play around me, that is how I made it a priority. I have gained 5 lbs of muscle in a month. I don't know if you are exercising but that is the only way that I can do it. I also am having candida battles and it sucks but when trying to feed 2 picky kids that won't even try much raw, I end up eating a lot of their food. I am working on it though. Also the candida could be keeping you so thin too b/ c they can eat up all of your nutrients. I would suggest a good raw, recipe, health book by Gabriel Cousens, MD called RAINBOW GREEN LIVE-FOOD CUISINE. He talks a lot about candidas. Your body will figure it out as it gets healthier. Guest guest
Jennifer, You can gain weight but it will not be much. Exercise is the key here. The human should be a slim person. However you will get much stronger and fitter on a raw diet. Peter Jennifer M. Guest guest
I would think that much like any food... to gain weight you will have to consume more calories than you burn. A good way would be to drink juices, eat avocados (high cals) and just pick the yummiest HIGH cal foods you can. Best of luck to you. peace nikki Jennifer M. Guest guest
You have a lot going on there Jennifer. I'm maintaining a nice little roll of fat at 150lbs. for a 5'10 " male. I think a raw diet can be healthy and keep anyone at a proper weight. But we're mind/body machines and we don't get illnesses and low body weight from the foods alone.
