Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am new here and I am new to the concept of a raw diet. I am looking to make a transition from a really bad diet to this one. And I am wondering if anyone has tips, recipes, or menus that are nutritionally sound and relatively simple for a complete beginner. Today I ate my first raw meal of cabbage and it was a lot better than I expected. I also had wheat grass juice and one orange and an avocado (I did not mix them improperly). I did however have cooked beans brown rice with cheese and mocha(Yeah weird combo), I also had a rasain bagel with cream cheese, but I noticed that I got a headache and my heart was beating faster. After I ate like that I just wanted to lay down a sleep and I could not focus my eyes. I have tried many things to change to a healthier diet. As I have been obese all of my life. I am hoping that a raw diet can cure me of the food addictions that I have suffered with for so long. I would really appreciate any support from a long time, short time, or anywhere in-between time living foods eater. I am not looking for a quick fix to lose weight. I am looking for a better way of life. I also want to live a moral eating life,Leaving flesh alive and in the domain of carnivores (animals meant to eat meat). I know that a vegan life makes more food available for humans to eat and is easy on mother earth. I have purchased quite a few books by Ann Wigmore: wheat grass, sprouting, Hippocrates, and her cookbook. So far I am overwhelmed I don't know where to start well...I just NEED HELP! I need real sound advice to starting slowly and progressively to freedom and health. thanks so much!
Guest guest
I want to let the newbies know that there is another list where it is a great place for starting out, asking questions, trading recipes, etc. called 12 Steps To Raw. It is based on a book called 12 Steps To Raw: How To Overcome Cooked Food Addictions. To find out more about this list, go to: 12stepstoraw/ To join this list, send an e-mail to: 12stepstoraw- This list is very newbie friendly. Also, I have a growing list of links that would be of interest to the newbie, as well as other raw foodist. Here is that link: http://exerciseyourwillpower.com/links.html I'm always open to people sending me raw food links so I can have a more complete list. If you have a raw or related web site, feel free to send it to me. Thanks. Viveca ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vita-Mix -- For Nutrition You Can Taste! Guest guest
Could you find a raw food 'friend' locally ...someone like yourself who is starting out where you could keep in daily supportive touch during the initial phase of change over? Do you have a library where such ads could be placed...or do you have someone in mind who you could swap support with? Don't forget...it doesn't have to be that you both are on the same thing...the other person may simply want help starting an exercise regime for example...rather than a change of diet just a thought. rawfood , " L " <zoezanzabar> wrote: > Hello everyone, > I am new here and I am new to the concept of a raw diet. Guest guest
Personally, I'm trying to eat a simple raw plant food diet of vegetables, fruits and nuts, like what's talked about on many raw sites. Dairy is difficult for beginners, but I believe any animal products like cream cheese are not the highest moral way to live. I'd say it's almost impossible not to lose weight and maintain a pretty average weight eating a raw plant food diet regardless of how much is consumed. Guest guest
Rich, I'd say below average weight comes with eating raw! Guest guest
Average? Have you seen, " The Gods must be crazy " ? What's average for the aboriginal is not average for those who they call, " The Heavy people " rusty - - " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner <rawfood > Tuesday, March 02, 2004 10:19 AM RE: [Raw Food] Re: I newbie wanting advice > > Rich, > > I'd say below average weight comes with eating raw! > > Peter > > > Personally, I'm trying to eat a simple raw plant food diet of > vegetables, fruits and nuts, like what's talked about on many raw > sites. Guest guest
Average as the medical field defines it, you're right Peter. But the actual proper weight, as a human being should be, is what I was thinking about here. Like I'm around 150 now and I could see myself going as low as 140, maybe even 135 (although that sounds a bit low) and be at my ideal health physically for my 5 feet 10 inches. rawfood , " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner@e...> wrote: > > Rich, > > I'd say below average weight comes with eating raw! > > Peter

Guest guest
> I am 5'10 " and weight about 116lbs. I am thin. Probabley lean. 2 things to remember about average: It takes the heaviest and the lightest and everybody in between and adds the weight and divides by the number of s subjects . A healthly Average weight does not mean everbody's ideal weight. Secondly: The average of whom, those so called healthy people on the SAD or the avererge of the Hunzas? rusty - " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner <rawfood > Wednesday, March 03, 2004 6:36 AM RE: [Raw Food] Re: I newbie wanting advice > I am 5'10 " and weight about 116lbs. Guest guest
That seems awfully low Peter. I know there's real thin women who are healthy and maybe it's a characteristic of some Orientals. I'm thin boned and pretty thin all over and still I think I'll stay at and be healthiest at the 145 lb mark roughly. rawfood , " Peter Gardiner " <petergardiner@e...> wrote: > I am 5'10 " and weight about 116lbs.
