I also have Graves (I think they said once you have it, you

always have it, but if I do, it is in remission--but as far as

I'm concerned, I don't have it anymore). I also had to have a

part of my thyroid killed off. I had this done in the early 90s.

I was lucky by the fact that they got just the right measurement

of thyroid needed to be killed off. I never had to go on thyroid

replacement, and have been having my thyroid levels checked for

the past 13 years or so with no change.

I have read that eating raw should cure (or at least improve) any

disease. From what I gather, most diseases are brought about by

problems with the immune systerm, which is affected dramatically

by the foods (or non foods) we put into our mouths (and bodies).

I would assume that eating a healthy, raw vegan diet, one would

improve our entire body and all the systems and organs, etc.

If I had active Graves now, and hadn't been treated, I'm not sure

what my course of action would be. I would suggest that you

continue to ask raw foodist and continue to do searches on the

internet.

I buy into the notion that raw food is a panacea for all illnesses.

I sat in on some of Arnold's lectures, of Arnold's Way raw food cafe

near where I live, and that's what he said. I'm not sure if it's

true or not but maybe it is.

HI , I 'supposedly' had/have Graves but in my case I refused to have

a gland in my body destroyed simply because there are no

other 'apparant' treatments.

I consider that is butchery not surgery...a cop out because the

medical profession knows f'all about what it otherwise wishes to

give the impression it is 'expert' on.

Coming up to the time I was originally going to have the irradiation

treatment I suddenly started to put weight on, feel sluggish, weepy

etc. The specilist at the hospital sounded 'surprised' on the phone

by my changed and contrary symptoms....which removed any residual

confidence in their 'expert' knowledge I may have retained to the

moment.

Since then despite being told my thyroid function is within normal

range I have experienced deepening symptoms which on further

research I would ascribe to Hashimotos disease....anti-bodies in the

blood which effectively destroy the thyroid over time.

Weight has gone up 2 stone in as many months and I lose hair in

bouts...

I am hoping that the change over to raw food which I am currently

beginning will go someway over the years to reverse some of the

harsher symptoms because I am trying to run a small business all by

myself and the resultant feelings of ilness etc have lost me

countless thousands of £'s of business over the last few

years....whilst the so called 'specialists' when I DO eventually get

a twice yearly appointment, can do no more than send me for yet more

blood tests for Graves which of course now come back as normal

range..

Well ~ if constant feelings of having flu WITH a hangover (and I

don't drink) plus depression and weepiness plus overweight, hair

loss etc are normal for someone with a normal range of thyroid

fuction ..please move over because I'd sure like to collect the

salary THEY make for this 4 minute appointment every 6 months just

to send me for aw blood test again and tell me I am normal.

If this is normal life...stop the world I want to get OFF.

I had really really severe and my thyroid had to be killed completely

i had many thyroid storms... was constantly in and out of the

hospital..its funny cuz im one of the youngest ppl to have it soo

young..it normally doesnt come out this severe til later on... i take

a thyroid replacement if i dont i have no thyroid hormones at all and

trust me having no thyroid hormone in ur system really messes with ur

body... im hoping that the raw diet will make it a bit better but i

will never have to not take thyroid replacement since i have nil...

Hi, Velvet,

Go to this link: http://www.hacres.com/testimonies.asp

You can search for testimonials on different conditions. Thyroid is

included.

I hope this helps to give you some hope.
