Is this a group which focuses on people of color following a raw

vegan diet? I had hoped it would be more active. Also, can anyone

recommend other groups which cater to people of color who are raw

foodists?

Thank You

Greetings Omsri,

Welcome to !

I see that you joined 2 days ago. Have you

looked in the archives for this group? http://health./messages/1

Although our group is less than 1.5 months

old, there are more than 47 messages there. Including messages about local potluck

scheduling, Live Food classes, Live restaurant reviews, health info, retreats, Live

healing centers and more. Plenty to read and possibly relate to. J

I suggest you look through the archive…

and feel free also to intro yourself to the group (where you are located, why

you are interested in the Live Food life, family/children). That often gets a lively

conversation going.

I have also invited folks to send before

and after photos as well so we can show the transformations that occur when we invest

in ourselves.

We are glad you’re here to share.

Be well,

~Sunyatta

Greetings, you never answered my question...

Is this a group which focuses on people of color following a raw

vegan diet?

My disappointment is not with the group but the fact that very few

people of color seem to have adopted this lifestyle.

Peace, Omsri!

Thank you for your question because the disappointment that you feel is very valid.

This group is open to all people, but people of color (specifically Black people) are in desparate need of such a group. The only areas where Black people rank number one in America are in the areas of Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and the list goes on as evidenced by every health report, study, and statistic. Just in the past 6 months, new articles have come out stating that 90% of Black men in America have NO understanding that diet and health are related. They do not eat fruit. They no nothing of the 5 to 9 a day requirement and those who do, don't practice it. This has been in the NEWSPAPER! Do a web search. (If I find the article again, I'll send it to you.) Black men in America rank #1 in colon cancer. And most (liberated) Black women can't cook, so we can't help them.

It's because historically we have ranked number one in chitlin' (chitterlings) - eating, alcohol-drinking, and cigarette-smoking of all the other races, especially in this country. It is not by accident, but design. It doesn't benefit in any way for the people who (continue to) pimp, exploit and abuse us, to allow us to have better health, wealth and longevity than them. This is their house and we are just squatters. That's just the Truth. When we turned our backs on the Creator, He turned His back on us.

The best you can do is to first take steps closer to God through respecting the temple that He loaned you. Taking care of your health and studying nutrition. Then as you learn, pull your brothers and sisters up with you by teaching them how to do the same.

Love,

Sister Zakhah

Greetings Sister Zakhah!

- You've expressed my thoughts exactly. Though we are very much

living in the 21st century the Black American Diet has its roots from

the days of slavery. Often slaves were given the parts of farm

animals which their " owners " felt were only fit to be thrown out.

Namely, pig feet, pig ears, and as you mentioned Chitterlings, and

other unhealthy foods. Though spices were added by " slaves " to make

these foods appetizing it didn't change their true compositon: these

foods were dead and lacked nutrients. Over the years we forgot that

these foods were not our natural diets. You are also correct that God

clearly teaches us how to eat and honor our bodies. One scripture

that comes to mind is Genesis 1:29 which clearly states that the

original diet of mankind consisted of " fruits and herbs. We must

change our thoughts and return to our natural state.

Wise thoughts my sister.

african americans on a whole do have health issues, but i've heard

raw food guru david wolfe say repeatedly that african americans

percentage wise are the number #1 group to be following the raw

vegan diet. he travels around the world conducting hundreds of

lectures every year, i would think he would know.

Alafia All,

This has been a great discussion, exposing very pertinent

information. Diet is a very important issue considering (and as has

already been highlighted here) we are number one in terms of

debilitating dis-eases that get their start in our eating habits. All

of us need to be concerned when we make up only 12 percent of the

total U.S. population, yet have the most cases of hypertension,

coronary heart dis-ease, strokes, heart attacks, etc. (i could go on

and on).

Other than expanding out knowledge base regarding

veganism/rawfoodism, this is another important issue, an issue that

could never be exhausted.
