Guest guest
I'm new and also starting raw AGAIN. I've tried to transition many times before but I usually fail out of boredom and lack of knowledge on how to prepare these meals. Suggested menus and recipes will be very appreciated. Guest guest
I went to a raw food workshop presented by Victoria Boutenko, author of 12 STEPS TO RAW FOOD. It was amazing the number of different, delicious dishes that take little to no time to make. All you need is a cuizinart, blender and simple juicer, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables on hand. Her book had recipes in the back. She also wrote a book called, EATING WITHOUT HEATING. If you are looking for recipes this book is great. It has tons of simple recipes and what I have tried I really liked. She sells a video which demonstrates how to prepare raw meals. The video was basically what she demonstrated in class and was full of ways to make meals. I found this very helpful in starting out. Her website is www.rawfamily.com . One thing she emphasized in her class was the importance of doing it with someone for support. If you have any friends/family interested in trying raw recipes, maybe you could pick one night a week to experiment with something new. I think you'll be amazed at how easy it really is once it is not so foreign. Guest guest
Brian, (one more side note!) I have also found that once I got over my 3 day hump (which I am almost over...thanks to all who responded with such great advice, it really helped me out!! You're the best and your time is appreciated!!) But anyway, once I start eating 100% raw, food never tasted so delicious. It may be in my mind, but cooked food actually tasted dead! Don't know how to describe it. And I noticed that living foods really tasted " alive " and I felt like my body responded almost immediately. Once you are into it, I don't think you'll be bored. As you said, lack of knowledge can be a big factor. I have been reading and reading and reading and reading, (loved the list of exotic fruits posted in response to my e-mail, haven't heard of any of them prior). I have also found the larger the variety of fresh fruit and vegetables I have the easier it is to throw something together, so I try not to run out. Running out of raw food in the house has been my downfall in my previous attempts to go 100% raw. Not to mention that wicked jar of peanut butter that keeps calling me!--Has anyone made raw peanutbutter??? Can't imagine it is much more than raw soaked nuts in a cuizinart?? Guest guest
Hi Beverly, I'm not sure if you have a Vita-Mix or not, but a blender will do to make peanut butter. Here is one simple recipe you may want to try that's guaranteed to take you away from that big jar of " JIF " or " PETER PAN " peanut butter. 2 - 4 ½ Cups of Raw Peanuts, Cashews, Almonds, or Macadamia nuts 3 TBS of X-Virgin Olive oil Add 1/8 tsp of sea salt to taste Blend until smooth Ron , " Beverly Coose " <mermaidcharter@c...> wrote: > Brian, (one more side note!) > > I have also found that once I got over my 3 day hump (which I am almost > over...thanks to all who responded with such great advice, it really > helped me out!!
