Guest guest
One of my raw friends mentioned a while ago that she suffered from candida. I just ran across some information in THE SUNFOOD DIET SUCCESS SYSTEM by David Wolfe. I thought I’d pass on some of the information to her as well as anyone else interested. The following are direct quotes or brief summaries from the book pg 241-246. Candidia is a fungal parasite that excretes toxic waste that can get into the bloodstream and cause symptoms of bloating, clouded thinking, depression, diarrhea, exhaustion, halitosis, menstrual pains, thrush unclear memory recall, yeast vaginitis, etc. Diets high in cooked starches or diets loaded with refined or hybridized (seedless) fruit sugars both feed candida…..when all this sugar is added into a body whose levels of good intestinal bacteria (probiotics) are low and whose tissues have become acidic due to a prolonged lack of alkaline mineral salts (from vegetables) in the diet, then candida proliferates. Possible suffering could be related to a long history of antibiotic use. High doses of healthy intestinal probiotics that will implant and colonize the intestines are required to overcome candida. Recommendations: * Get direct sunlight to the skin. (preferably naked!) * When cooked starch and refined or hybridized fruit sugars are removed from the diet, the body becomes more alkaline, when flora begins to proliferate, and when the dark moldy environment is eliminated, candida automatically comes under control. (I have also heard that celery is good for helping the body become more alkaline.) A specific diet of raw vegetables (mostly green or non sweet vegetables such as nopales or jicama….no potatoes, beets, or carrots) green juices, occasional soaked nuts or seeds, young coconut butter (oil),a wide variety of low sugar fruits, and one to two sweet fruits a day (if they need it or feel comfortable with it). Excellent low sugar fruits include: Avocado Bell pepper ~ not green Bitter melon Bread fruit Cranberry Cucumber ~ very healing Grapefruit Lemon ~ may irritate the candida sufferer Lime ~ may irritate the candida sufferer Noni Okra ~ very healing Olives ~ not from can Pumpkin Sour apples Squash Tomatillo Tomato Zucchini Excellent benefits can be found in raw coconut butter (oil). Also eliminating sweet fruits for several weeks or months and simultaneously dosing up on probiotics and soil based organisms. Sprouted grains, when fasting from sugar for long periods, the little bit of sugar from sprouted grains will not foster candida. Candida Salad: Kale, Lettuce, Parsley, Avocado, Flax Oil, Sprouted Barley, Sprouted Rye. The body can be thrown off balance without sweet…one or two pieces of nonhybrized fruit each day should be fine. Avoid combinations to avoid fermentation of the fruits. Once the body is cleansed and the body is clear of candida more sugary fruits can be added. He gives guidelines for a cleansing and intestinal rebuilding program such as EJUVA program offered by NATURES FIRST LAW. Guidelines for herbal cleansings while overcoming candida: No fruit juices. Take high quantity of probiotic formula Take ample amounts of probiotic bifidobacterium infantis Chronic candida can be associated with subconscious self destructive feelings of rejection and a lack of self worth. Negative, self destructive thoughts destroy good bacteria dn tin the intestinal tract allow candida to proliferate. Positive self confident thoughts help good bacteria proliferate in the intestines. An emotional cleansing is required to overcome chronic candida….unresolved issues usually involve parents or past livers. Counselors, friends, books and/or sudiotapes can assist with emotional releases. Final note from me…..a few things in this are slightly confliciting to what I have heard before. I have also heard that candida can be caused by a diet too high in fat. Avocados and the nuts recommended here, were not recommended by Rozi Gruben and Doug Graham….they recommended a 80-10-10 balance of carbohydrates-fats-sugars, which you can get from a diet of greens and fruits alone. Candida only thrives in an acidic environment, work to alkalize the body. David Wolfe recommends 50-0-50/ chlorophyll-sugar-fat when trying to eliminate candidia. Hope this helps someone. Guest guest
This has helped me tremendously. I would also include lots of probiotics. I like Doug Graham's approach to Candida relief which is to cut out fat for 10 days rather than fruit since it is the fat that binds with the insulin to hinder the proper absorption of the sugars in your blood. The sugars just stay there and that's when the Candida starts to go wild. This approach got rid of my hypoglycemic reactions too. Guest guest
Yes, that is what I heard from Graham, too…I like his information a lot, thanks for the refresher! I think he said it was the fat that insulated the sugar so the insulin not remove it from the blood. Guest guest
Thanks Beverly and Nancy, Good posts' on candida. I too, saw Doug and Roz back-to-back last year and while I remember most everything that was mentioned, my note taking left something to be desired. (smile) Good Health to You Elaine
