Guest guest
Hello all, This will be my first potluck with Raw Soul. Please let me know how many servings I should prepare for. Also, what else should I expect while I'm there. -Agape Love, Contessa
Guest guest
Wonderful ideas, Tree! Thanks so much for sharing them! Any more? You're an inspiration! LaDonna > Do any of you have favorite dishes that you take to potluck that every > likes? My daughter has an insane list of allergies, and is a much more committed vegetarian than I've ever been! And yet, I STARTED a church potluck tradition a couple of months ago! LOL! Here's what we do: I bring mainstream treats she can have, such as big bottles of Sprite, Lay's potato chips, Pixy Stix, and get hers dished up before " glutaminated " hands get into it. I also pack a lunchbox of food just for her, and there's often a fruit or veggie platter she can have, too. If my crockpot were working, I'd make rice pudding, which most folks just looove. I use coconut milk in my version; it's luscious and creamy. Another thing our family likes, a Persian dish: bahjli plo It's rice with lima beans, and a TON of dill and a TON of butter/margerine (or if you're really limited, like us, cook the rice in stock, and substitute walnut oil and salt for the butter after cooking). Brown or white rice is ok; the original dish has chicken in it. Sometimes you run into folks with extreme lima bean prejudices; it's interesting to see just who likes them, and who doesn't. I use canned or frozen limas, as the dried ones are just soooo beige. If you want an authentic, delicious, labor-intensive version, use fresh fava beans. Good luck! Guest guest
Hey, can we get that rice pudding receipe please??? the rice dish sounds great, but we have some lima haters in the family, aside from fava beans, got any other ideas on what might work in that? Guest guest
Nothing wrong with just a simple colorful fruit salad for any potluck. Since Im new to being vegan, sometimes I get a little intimidated with all the new products, cheese substitutes, grains, soy products. I have to remind myself, if I stick to whole foods, the simplest things in life like an apple. Its completely vegan.
Guest guest
I've been eating a vegan diet for a rather long time... since 1985... and even so, I think your attitude is very wise, Tara! :-) Deborah Nothing wrong with just a simple colorful fruit salad for any potluck. Guest guest
Yes, I love fruit. Unfortunately, my family wouldn't be very happy with just fruit as a midday meal. I do love to take fruit to a potluck, though, it is so colorful and yummy. Thanks, Tracy
