Guest guest
Well, we are over the half way mark for the 21 day challenge. When I went to Lynda’s workshop I wore sweat pants and a tee shirt because all of my clothes were too tight for comfort. Today I am 10 pounds lighter and fitting into my wardrobe (not quite everything, but at least I have a selection other than sweats and stretch shorts!!). As inspired by Lynda, I am also committed to getting back on track with a workout program these 21 days, and beyond. The combination of 99.9 raw (slipped with popcorn one night) and working out again, I feel GREAT! I was hoping to hear how others are doing as well as provide inspiration to anyone struggling. The best part about going raw this time is that I haven’t focused on it. I just today looked at the calendar and realized this is day 12. I filled my house with raw foods and I eat them as I feel I need them. Not really worrying about the perfect balance right now, just focusing on it being raw and getting out for some exercise sometime in the day. Things are great. Not to mention the sun is FINALLY OUT and winter seems to be a thing of the past. My blender broke the other day and I have not yet received my vitamix from e-bay ~looking forward to it’s arrival. When I ordered it in my frantic frenzy to get one ASAP, I did not check our family. I wish I had realized the prices Elaine gave us in her e-mail were the sale prices Lynda was offering. I would certainly love to keep business in our family which provides so much support and guidance through the transition times and on. Lynda’s prices are great and I plan to purchase a juicer in the future and am confident in the quality/service from our own home. Please give an update if you have one. Stories of success or struggles always help to motivate. Love and light, BEV
Guest guest
Raw Soul Family, These last 12 days have been a blessing to me. I made the decision to home school my son who was diagnosed with Autism. I just became tired of fighting with the school system about the proper form of education for him. Now that he is home with me, I've been feeding him raw foods for breakfast and lunch. He eats what mommy eats. He even drinks the Rejuvelac straight up! This boy is hard core. LOL. He's allowed cooked foods, mostly soups at dinner with his sister. I've noticed such a change with him. He is more alert, communicates more, his skin is clearing up from eczema, and his breath no longer has a foul smell. I feel as if I got my son back. The one who was hidden from me at the age of three after childhood immunization and strong antibiotics for a terrible ear infection. I want to thank God, everyone who helped me get to the raw class several weeks ago,and all who gave me wonderful advice on autism and substitutes for people with allergies. I knew changing to a raw diet would change my family. This proves it. No one can tell me that eating raw is unhealthy or that children won't eat it. My home is living proof. Guest guest
What a great decision to home school. I can't imagine a more rewarding challenge. I often consider going down that path with my daughter. When I looked into it I was surprised at the number of resources available to home schooling families. If you haven't yet, check out home schooling on line in your area and you may find lots of support to make the transition fruitful. Seems down here that home schooling families run a pretty organized structure of support and education, you may have a similar set up in your area. Congratulations with all the successes you and your family are experiencing. And best wishes for many more to come. Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
Thank you Bev. I am focusing more on un-schooling my son. We spend a lot of time outdoors and work on projects rather than on individual subject areas. It is working our great for the both of us and there is no stress involved. Our next project is planting a garden. Here we can work on plant classification, learn about types of soil, take soil samples and learn about proper ph, find alternative methods of insect control, and som many other things. We track things using the computer and make graphs and charts. This is an experience he would not get at school. This also supports our raw and living foods lifestyle. Next fall I'll homeschool my daughter as well, so that she will reap the benefits. Let me know if you have any questions or reservations about homeschooling. -Contessa and Family --- Beverly Coose <mermaidcharter wrote: > What a great decision to home school. Guest guest
Contessa, You are doing so right with your son! And you are exactly right as to how he got in his condition (shots and antibiotics). To help him even more, I'd continue giving him the rejuvelac as well as getting him the powdered probiotics (bifidous, acidophylus, etc. ) It sounds like you don't give him any dairy, which is terrific because that can cause autism to get worse (see www.notmilk.com) So much of it comes to malabsorption of our food, so the dear boy can't get all the nutrients he needs! Keep up the great work, I'll be eager to hear how he progresses! I'd also give him vegetarian digestive enzymes when he eats to help even more. Guest guest
Mark, There are so many resources out there. I used the internet and also found some books at my local library. make sure you contact the school system in advance to avoid someone knocking at your door . Remember as a parent, you have been teaching all this time, who should that have to stop just because they are school age. Make each moment a teaching moment and fun so they can remember it for a lifetime. I'm in the process of creating a resource guide for my church, although it has a Christian base, the information can be used by anyone. Just let me know. -Contessa --- blakenson wrote: > We will be home schooling Josh this year and are > looking for info on getting started. Guest guest
Thank you for sharing your story! I work as a teacher with high school students with autism and I share your frustrations with school systems. Being raw makes all the difference! Guest guest
Congradulations on the weight lose Bev. That is fantastic. Well it is great that our raw soul family is having success with the challenge. Dr. Amin and Elaine really cooked up (what am I saying ha ha ) something good. I am continuing my exercise routine daily. I think I will add another movement like a video to my workout. Can't decide if it will be belly dancing since I'm jealous that I can't attend the classes regularly. Or Ty Bow since Billy Blanks has knocked fat off of me before. Perhaps I try both .Plus my yard awaits me. Mean while it is sit ups and the rebounder. Love You'all Lynda
