Guest guest
Greetings All, I’m glad to hear the heavy interest in the tropical food co-op. And why not, it only is our native food from our native environment. Sorry I haven’t had the chance to respond sooner. Right now it seems I can get Jackfruit pretty regularly (like once a week). They have other fruits but from what I was told they don’t ship well. I don’t know how many jackfruits I can feasibly get on a regular basis. If I remember correctly I’m getting 2 of them this Friday. And I’m sure more than 2 folks on the group our interested. But there are a couple of options as far as distributing it. First option for everyone who wants one can let me know and I can gather a tally and see if I can have that many shipped at one time. Whoever is not familiar with Jackfruit it’s a humongous fruit so that may not be feasible. If that is not possible, then I can package it and pass on to everyone who at least wants to try. For a 10 lbs jackfruit I can probably fill at least 5 small containers, so that may be the best option. So what I’ll do is first see how many I can get at one time. Then from there the options will be clearer and I can let everyone know what it will cost. Anyone who has never had the pleasure of tasting jackfruit, all I can say is pure ecstasy. Probably my favorite. Ultimately, we’ll have to start our own sunfood community and live off of the land like our ancestors. Also, Sunyatta and I gave a talk tonight on “higher health” as it relates to food and exercise at the Capoeira school as a part of our Wednesday night discussion series. We also had Denzel in the house to give out live food samples. The focus of my talk was raw foods and moving closer to nature or the “wild” especially when doing an art form like capoeira that mimics movements mainly animals, other living species, and even sunfood! For example, one of my favorite moves is called “bananeira” which literally means banana tree. They say in Brazil that the banana tree looks upside down and what the move requires is for you to be upside down by walking on your hands. So the talk was a success. We are ambassadors for raw food and healthy and “higher” living. So any time, any exposure given to raising people’s consciousness is great. Guest guest
There is a farm in florida operated by Stan Glaser and his wife that has some tropical fruites, mame, sappidilo, lychees. They would be possibly interested if we had a food coop as far as wholesale prices although their regular prices are reasonable. Also next day air is available w/a pick up at the airport I belive it is about $50 for up tp 200lbs). Dulles is 10 minutes from my house. They also have a fAarm i Costa rico and have the apple banannas. Their farm in costa rico is awaiting certification although it is organically grown.Mrs and Mr Glaser have been active members of the raw food community for many years.
