Guest guest
Juneteenth Fasting Symposium On June 19th, the Black Vegetarian Society of Georgia (BVSG) will redefine emancipation with a community Juneteenth Fasting Symposium. The program, comprised of panel discussion and lectures, will take place on a sacred day of remembrance- a day when enslaved Africans ( in Texas) were finally told of their freedom. It is in this spirit that the symposium focuses on fasting as a liberating pathway to health and wellness. The event will highlight the pre-fast program, "The Eden Diet"; include a plenary address on the Medicinal Benefits of Fasting by Dr. Stephen Tates of Tates Nutritional Institute; and a Healthy Colon panel discussion with Dr. Akilah El of Celestial Healing Wellness Center, Akanke Rasheed of Colema Board, Inc., Dr. Joy Scott of Northern Edge Flaxseed and Harriett Harris of Detox Movement/Atlanta Clinic of Preventive Medicine. An enlightening round table discussion- Water Connection to Wellness led by Glenda and Marshall Evans, Marshall Evans & Associates - will identify the rejuvenating properties of water and the role proper hydration plays in defeating dis-eases such as diabetes, asthma, obesity, high blood pressure, and sexual dysfunction. All participants will receive unlimited fresh juice with formulas for diabetics and non-diabetics available, were fasting for one day.
