Bev,

I think these are great ideas. I would join in on the 21 fall food and fitness challenge. I'm doing pretty good, but it is so nice to feel like we are a team, all working together towards our goals.

I definitely agree that spirituality and diet go hand in hand along with the other aspects of our lives (physical, mental, emotional). I read your fabulous bio (Lynda) for a second time back when you posted the question and I never took the time to put in my 2 cents….partially because I have so many times before and didn’t’ want to be redundant for those who have been connected to raw soul for a while. I was hoping to hear from others as I have enjoyed the responses from those who have posted prior to your request, in past posts. I am definitely looking forward to “What the Bleep” coming to Virginia, thanks for spreading the word.

I am putting my feelers out to for two ideas I had.

In an attempt to stay focused on physical exercise I went to a “personal fitness program” site I found in a search. Though I liked the ideas it fostered: accountability to commitment, dialogue with counselor, new workout ideas, I did not to the program. I did not want to commit to someone/something with such different nutritional ideas. Along the lines of spirituality and diet going hand in hand, I think that one’s exercise program should follow suit with the lifestyle choice made.

Now to my first idea, I’m interested in doing something similar to the 21 day raw challenge while incorporating fitness goals. We could have general guideline to help direct goals while allowing flexibility for individuals to make/achieve personal/individualized goals. We could have a start/stop date for those who are interested, yet allow anyone to jump on board when they are ready. It would be motivating for me to be some degree accountable to more than just myself. By sharing similar goals, we are accountable to our commitment to try for a designated amount of time to help us achieve life long goals towards improvement. My idea is to start on the first day of Fall, September 22nd and run for 21 days. (3 weeks is the amount of time they say it takes your body to adjust to something new, so hopefully the end result will carry over for the duration.)

Is anyone interested in doing a raw fitness challenge beginning on Fall Equinox? Personal goals could focus on being more raw (the degree is up to you) and improving your fitness activity (the degree is up to you). If one makes a 2% change every week, within a year he will have changed 100%....I’d like to begin refining with the coming of the new season! Is anyone else in???

Now, for #2, I am also toying with the idea of beginning personalized fitness programs for people. I have a degree in Health and Physical Education. I have taken certification courses in Personal Training, Aerobics and Bench Stepping. I have personally trained for and participated in: 5K and 10K events, four ½ marathons, one marathon, 4 triathlons, and 2 run/swim/runs among other events. (Notice I said participated in, not competed in…it is all for fun/fitness and enjoyment.) Though I am not a doctor, I do feel I have the background knowledge, practical experience, and level of commitment to help those who need help in the area of fitness. I was thinking of designing a background questionnaire and goals sheet to evaluate individual needs to enable me to create personalized training programs with ongoing support through e-mail communications. As I said before, I am just putting my feelers out to see if there is any interest. If anyone has any ideas/thoughts or input, it will be appreciated. If anyone is interested in this type of consultation from me please e-mail me and let me know via or off the loop. All information e-mailed off the loop will, of course, be kept confidential. I would like to know if this is something of interest to others and worth pursuing.

Great health to all,

BEV :)

Blessing Raw Family, Not too long ago ,I put out a request for those folks on the live food path to engage in a little spirirtual wareness and developement. I didnot get a response . I believe spirituality goes hand and hand with the diet ! Perhaps no one had the time. So today I want to bring some spiritual enlightenment to you. Currently in Dc there is a Movie showing that has been showing on the West Coast for months " What The Bleep" It is currently showing at : The Loews 31117 K St NW. in DC and in New York in the Village Check out : www.whatthebleep.com

Bev;

that sounds great! I especially like the focus of prayer for a specific common goal that we can all grow on. Starting at the Fall Equinox is a wonderful starting point.

We can exercise at our on pace and time frame. ( reporting in if we choice too) As the inches fall .

However I think that we should agree on a specific time to meditate, visualize, pray. Lets honor everybodies method of spirituality.

It would be nice if we kept the jargon non denominational. As we may very well have a multi- cultural audience. What do you think , lets brain storm. We must respect everyone

Great Nancy,

I was also thinking maybe during the 21

days someone could take the initiative to help stimulate unity in spirituality

within the group. (For example, maybe a focus for the

day/week…something along the lines of common prayer or a thought to make

you think.)  It can be as simple

as sending energies/thoughts/prayers to a common ground ~ the untiy of all of our focus is sure to make a

difference.  I’m sure we all focus

our prayers and energies in similar paths, if we can guide and direct some

energy at the same time, maybe the power of the prayer will be that much

stronger.  So a simple one line focus for

the day or week ranging all the way up to in depth thought of why are we here

(for example).

If someone who feels ahead on the

spiritual path wouldn’t mind leading the focus for a day during the 21 days, that would be great.

Some people that come to mind as naturally being able to direct this

line of thought are Lynda, Matt, Mark, Ashtarra and a few others whose names escape me now~

don’t know if any of you are interested or if anyone else is interested,

but I thought a complete group focus for the 21 days (nutrition, exercise, and

sprit) may be a nice way for us to unite and focus as a group???

Any input?

BEV :)

I love the idea ladies! I tend to do my prayer/meditation in the morning, but can usually stop what I'm doing any time to pray. So give me a time and I'll go for it. Did you want the goal to be spiritual (like our faith to grow) or more toward a specific focus, say on courage and discipline to stick with exercise and raw eating??? Sometimes folks don't even realize they are using jargon, so let's be gracious with each other and maybe even give a list of appropriate phrases/words to use?

I think a common time to focus would be

great. The power of prayer/energy/thoughts

in numbers is strong. If it is not

practical for everyone, that is fine to, but I do think a target time to work

for would be beneficial. Just to

throw a time out, I have always heard 11:11 is a power/spiritual number, but don’t know the source

behind it off hand (heard the reasons years ago, I remember thinking it was

neat, but don’t remember why or where it originated ~ seems like it tied

into a number of things.) I also

think morning is great because your brain waves are still in a state of alpha. Many who meditate/relax/pray can achieve

alpha at anytime of the day through controlled thinking and relaxation, so I am

open to anytime to shoot for and will figure a way to hit the target during the

busy day.

Nancy, the general goal for me ~ it can be

different for everyone, individualized to make each participant benefit by

getting what they need along their path ~ but my general idea (again, just an

idea) is to have this big group which shares threads of common

beliefs/goals/ideas to take a specific duration of time (21 days) to focus on

improvement in what ever area they feel they need to focus on. When we all begin together and

communicate to some degree on our progress I think more benefit will come to

all. The power of unity is so

strong and there are so many of us on this loop. It has been rather quiet for a while,

and I really benefit from the on going communication, the ideas presented when

we communicate more. I felt if we

start something together, stay focused on whatever goal we need, then the dialog will grow and help us grow. To answer your question, I was thinking more

along the lines of the goal being to grow spiritually in the direction that is

right for each of us. However, some

people may find that focus towards the courage to stay on raw and stick with a

new fitness plan will help them move to be more spiritual, by the mere fact

that most people who move to more raw or 100% raw experience connections with

the world they missed out on before. So honestly, it has to be individualized

to maximize the benefits, we are all at different points in our journey. Though we are all at different points,

and have different personal goals I think a common focus (21 day challenge) and

focus for the day/week for spiritual growth or harmony with the environment, or

bringing peace to all…….I think that would help round out our goals

as individuals and cause a ripple effect for those within our group around us

then continue rippling out who knows how far. That is why I was hoping someone who

walks a little lighter would take the focus for the group (or a few people). Lynda, you said you’d like to “brainstorm”….I’d

love for you to take this part of the ball!! Have I thrown out any small “lightening

bolts” that have sparked a storm?? I’m open to hashing it around.
