Guest guest
Greetings Family. In looking at the many retreats around the country and the world, what about our community creating our own retreat. It can be non-profit and very affordable. I'm considering Jan-March as the range for a week. We can easily do this for less than $800 per person w/ housing, airfare and food. We also can stay at houses as opposed to hotels. We have amatuer and professional chefs, we can take turns preparing or invite a chef in or a lecturer or have our own. many of the places I've visited in the islands and central america, have fruits and nots right on the property which brings cost down and we can also eat closer to what's natura for us. While mapping out a vacation for a few friends of mine we came up w/$4000 for seven people in a 5bdrm house in the rainforest of Costa Rico; air/house and car rental for a week (just a possibility). I find living in the houses closer to comminity and also we can eat simply if we want or do gourmet meals and even fast. With our resources we can make it affordable. From traveling w/my kids I find they tend to entertain themselves more when we're in a home-like setting then hotels. They venture out and explore. The various airlines have specials throughout the year mainly based on what area might be slow for them or sometimes their opening up a new region. if we are flexible we can take advantage of this opportunity. On my trip to Roatan Honduras me and a buddy rented a two bdrm house on the beachfor $575 for a week, and had all the mangoes, avacodoes, coconuts, bannanas, lychees and sapadillo's we could eat right in the propery. So w/airfare it came to about 850 each and we could of gotten lower airfare if we were willing to do the extra stops. Just some ideas I have. peace and blessings, Mark
Guest guest
I LOVED Roatan. The snorkeling is fabulous right off of the beach and the locals were incredible ~ we were only there for a day, but I was just telling someone how neat it was and thet it was my favorite part of the trip we took. What a great place for something like this. I would not be able to do any sort of retreat like this for a few years, but sounds like a great experience for those who can. Guest guest
We are having a Retreat in October !! Many of you should already know since I have posted it several times that there is a trip to Jamaica All the way Live with one of our host Dr. Amin featuring Aris (internationally known) Who will be teaching and preparing Live Food. This retreat is a part of our family unit. Let's support this retreat Now Then we can create another one. If we don't support each other who will? Naturally we can have many retreats but I just think we should support the currently planned trip first ! Love & Blessings , Lynda
Guest guest
Hello Raw Soul: I would be just very happy for us to have a group focus for our developing spirituality - personal, group, planetary, making it all inclusive...and as well, I would love to go somewhere and have our own retreat...Ashtarra
Guest guest
I am all for supporting current events taking place. The intention is to stimilate the group into creating as well as participating in other people's creations. I go to various restaurants, lectures coops and so forth and I'm glad to support others in their ventures. Part of what's reflecting back is bringing out my creativity likewise. There's an expression " too many cheifs and not enough indians " . Really theirs a space for more cheifs. Observation stimulates ideas and dreams, being in the game and playing is what actually impacts the outcome. Putting the idea out now is just a start of the process of having it manifest. The universe is abundant enough to allow our indidual projects to be supported and group ideas flourish also. No intent on slighting anything currenly in the making. When doing my travel I quite often am planning my next trip (if only mentally) before I go on my current one. I belive this has helped in these things coming to be. Yes let's support our members in their ventures and also take their examples in putting together events and bring it on a group level, if that's where the gruop aspires to go. peace and inspiration, Mark
Guest guest
Mark and family, As one of the main organizers of the VegSoul retreats you have my support and blessings. The more of these we have the better. We are actually in the process of planning 3 VegSoul retreats for 2005 (February, July, and November). In addition to our retreats, we are also in the process of opening a year around wellness center in Jamaica with Aris that we are also looking to get off the ground by next year. And I agree with you, we could use more " chiefs " . The more opportunity there is for our people to be in our native environment, the better. This is what it is all about; environment makes all the difference in the attainment of higher health. Especially in these times with so much going on in this foreign land with our liberties and freedoms slowly eroding away behind the façade of terrorism. I will even go out on a limb and say that it is absolutely inevitable that this government will suspend our so called democracy that we have now and who knows what that will all entail. So do your thing Mark, hopefully you and your family be in Costa Rica when it all goes down, because I believe it will, just a matter of when. Also, this is a good opportunity to announce to the group that I will be changing my name. The naming ceremony is next Friday, September 24th, at 5:30pm at the capoeira space in Takoma Park, one block from the metro. I’d love for you all to come. Denzel would be more than happy to make some raw delights for everyone’s appetizing pleasures. Hope to see you all there. Lastly, for all of you that don’t know, the International Vegetarian Union (www.ivu.org) is having there 36th Annual World Vegetarian Congress from November 8th to the 14th in BRAZIL!!! This is the first time the IVU is having there conference in South America. Aris is one of the invited guest lectures! He will be doing a lecture and also a food demo on the Sunfire Cuisine. Dr. Amen and I will be there to support him. We are also trying to get Dr. Amen on the program if possible. This will be a great event for everyone to attend, especially the group and I believe that they have group rates on there website if enough people from the group are interested. When I am finished with my graduate studies, hopefully by this coming summer, I'll be able to conceive traveling. For now, I live vicariously thru those of you who visit these beautiful tropical paradises. I have faith the great spirit will lift me and my children from the abyss of confusion to a place where sunshine and ocean breezes soothe my soul. Blessings to you in your travels Mark, and everyone, Please continue to share, soon I hope to contribute. love and light pam
