Guest guest
Just in case there is anyone on this list in VA Beach Todd needs a hand . Kia & Winifred are Gone , So Show Your Love For Raw Foods , Help A Brother Out ! I Love Todd and if I lived in the area I would be his support . Love Lynda said: Greetings Everyone, It's been a while since I've sent out an email. I'm still here! We haven't done a raw foods potluck in maybe 3 months now. Attendance was getting poor so I figured I'd give it a break for the rest of the summer and start up agin in the fall and see how it goes. Plus, I've been busy doing some soul searching and travelling. I'd like to know if someone would like to volunteer to host the next potluck, on Sunday Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 pm. You don't need to do anything special, just offer your home as a meeting place. Also, while we're at it, if someone would like to volunteer for the following one on Sunday November 28, please let me know now as well. Beyond that, I very well may not be living in this area much longer, as I'm getting the itch to move to a warmer climate. I really like the summer!! I checked out the US Virgin Islands as a possibility, but that didn't pan out. Now I'm thinking possibly South Florida, possibly South Beach Miami. Nothing is definite yet, but I might be out of here by the winter. So, that brings me to my next question. Is there anyone who would like to take over the helm, organizing the raw potlucks, speakers, events, etc.? Even if I do stay around here for a while longer, I would still like to pass it on. It's been my joy and pleasure to serve you in this capacity over the past 7 years I think it is. It has been very rewarding, but to be honest, my heart is not in it any more. I'm still on the raw path and all, but I could use a break. I've certainly gotten a lot out of this, but alas it is time for me to move on The job could be taken on by one person or several together. It would involve coordinating venues for the potlucks and sending out notices via email. It would also involve to whatever extent you wanted to take it, organizing to have speakers come and do presentations on raw foods. It could also involve raw dinners and other types of classes. There is no pay for this per say, but you can organize with the speakers to get a cut of the take on events, to compensate you for the time put in. Also, you get a chance to have a personal relationship with a lot of the speakers, which can be very rewarding and enlightening. I've had a bunch of them stay at my house and spent time hanging out, talking, playing with them as well. You would also have the reward of being of service and helping others. The person(s) should have a good base in knowledge of the raw food diet. They don't necessarily need to be all raw, but shouldn't be a newcomer to this either, as folks will look to you for knowledge, as you will be though of as somewhat of an authority if you are organizing these events. My hope is that there is someone out there who will fit the bill and wish to take this on. It would be sad for the raw foods community here to fall apart just because I'm leaving. There are many people here who have lots of knowledge to share. This path has brought me so much joy. There are many others who can benefit as well. So, if there is a soul or sould out there who feel the calling to take this on, please let me know. Or if you have any questions on just what it might entail, please let me know as well. Peace and love,
Guest guest
Hi /Lynda/Todd: I don't live in Va Beach but I am thinking of moving to the area in a few years. I wonder if you could put my e-mail on your list and let me know of gatherings, etc. I appreciate all of the work both of you are doing to help good 'ole Virginia feel some light! Also, I am going to be in the Virginia Beach area for Thanksgiving and Christmas...Are there places in Va. Beach or Norfolk, I could go for a raw foods meal? Thanks, Ashtarra
Guest guest
Hi, This summer I visited Queena's in Norfolk, owned and operated by a wonderful African American Sister and Sister friend- it is above a Health Food Store - it is vegan with some raw - also PETA has a list of places for vegan with raw menus. In VA Beach - I went to the Edgar Cacey place that has raw foods on its menu. Jacki " Ashtarra J. Brissette " <arcadiapress " Ashtarra J. Guest guest
Norfolk has a delicious Raw food deli on Colley Ave. It is called Quintas, I think. It is upstairs, above a health food store around 29th street. She is fabulous, very slow, worth the wait though. I'll see if I can get you the address. In Virginia Beach, the Heritage at the oceanfront (31st street) has some raw foods, organic produce and a deli. That is where Todd works. Very nice store/deli. Also down Laskin Road (aka 31st street) about 3 miles there is another health food store that serves raw food/organic...it is next to a CONTE'S BIKE SHOP. You would love it here. The beach is beautiful and there is a wonderful state park with nature trails. Lots of community activities and events. Tons to do!! BEV Ashtarra J. Guest guest
It's called Queena's and if you call her, she will email you the weekly menu (it changes each week). This way you can call ahead. It's very good and the sister has a very peace spirit. You'll enjoy it there. Also, closer to the beach is The Heritage (you can find them online). They also have a good menu selection. , " Beverly Coose " <mermaidcharter@c...> wrote: > > Norfolk has a delicious Raw food deli on Colley Ave. It is called > Quintas, I think. Guest guest
On a little side table at Quenna’s I saw a list of vegan restaurants. It may be the PETA list.
