Guest guest
At the Anniversary party I promised to send info about the Go Further movie, which features Woody Harrelson, who is raw, and raw food chef Renee Underkoffler. There are several events this weekend. Can we organize a meetup? I probably can't make Sunday, but I am free tonight and tomorrow. Nic ************************* Go Further The Movie will play for one week in Washington, DC at the E Street Cinema, opening November 5. Following are special events after some screenings and a synopsis of the movie. More information at: http://www.gofurtherthemovie.com/ Friday, November 5: Washington DC After the 7:10 show, meet Danielle Rolli - Farm Manager at Community Harvest DC - to lead a post-discussion of the film and answer questions from the audience. She has been working in organic agriculture for the last 10 years and is passionate about combining food production with social justice issues. Saturday, November 6: Washington DC After the 7:10 show, meet Josh Balk – from Compassion Over Killing (COK), Josh will discuss the social and personal benefits of a vegetarian diet and the role of COK in the District and the nation. COK is a nonprofit animal advocacy organization based in Washington, DC. Working to end animal abuse, COK primarily focuses on cruelty to animals in agriculture and promotes vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world for all of us, both human and nonhuman. Also, welcome from local favorite JAVA GREEN, Chef DJ Kim. Sample from Java Green's delicious all-vegetarian menu! Sunday, November 7: Washington DC After the 2:30 show, celebrate serenity and well-being with DCYOGA's Narayan and Padma! They will share the benefits of yoga through discussion and demonstration and answer questions from the audience. Synopsis: Calling his new movie an “Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test on Tofu”, award-winning documentary director Ron Mann (Grass, Twist) joins actor/activist Woody Harrelson as he pilots a hemp-fuelled bus on an eco-consciousness raising incursion down the beautiful Pacific Coast. “Go Further”, the new film by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ron Mann, explores the idea that the single individual is the key to large-scale transformational change. The film follows actor Woody Harrelson as he takes a small group of friends on a bio-fuelled bus-ride down the Pacific Coast Highway. Their goal? To show the people they encounter that there are viable alternatives to our habitual, environmentally destructive behaviors. The travelers include a yoga-teacher, a raw food chef, a hemp-activist, a junk-food addict, and a college student who suspends her life to impulsively hop aboard. We see the hostility these pilgrims encounter, and watch as their ideas are challenged from within and without. We meet an entrepreneur who runs a paper company that does not harm trees; an organic farmer who believes Nature is his partner; a man who teaches environmental activists to use humor as a strategic weapon. And throughout, we see Harrelson test his belief that the transformation of our planet begins with the small personal transformations that are within the grasp of each and every one of us, after which… we’ll go further. http://www.gofurtherthemovie.com/ -- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
