I'm talking about a group of people renting a house together. What I have in mind is SUPPORT, not guilt! In other words, we would support each other in the raw foods journey but we would allow cooking and cooked food in the house, knowing that few people are 100%. Wouldn't it be more supportive to support each other being raw. The smells of cooked foods are very difficult for most people to deal with. In 12 steps to raw. Victoria advises people to beware of the smells of cooked foods. It would seem best if people that are trying to be raw, have cooked foods outside of the house? A raw House would be fantastic! I was wondering exactly the same thing when I read Helena's suggestion that an intentional " raw foods " community should allow people to cook in & bring cooked foods into such a house. I was actually hoping to stumble across a community where a more natural life can be lived. For it to be more the standard, rather than the " outcast " of sorts ~ which is what my circle of friends/family/husband often make me feel. So yes, I think it would be a valuable place to live for those who are in a place in their life to do that. So many people are on such different paths that a home as you suggested would be a tremendous step in the right direction for many. I tend to agree that bringing in cooked foods (for me) would defeat the goal, or add obstacles that one doesn't NEED to hurdle ~ but that is just where I am. A cooked vegan is much better than the SAD as people evolve ~ merely weaning off caffeine, processed flours/sugar, refined foods etc is a huge step for many. I do think that going raw cold turkey and 100% is better. For me I notice that cooked foods and temptations make it more difficult to stay on track as your body is unable to rid itself of cravings. So though I would prefer a raw house, I can see that either would be beneficial to its residence along the ever evolving path to optimal health! Many people are not like me (all or nothing!) and are better off making small changes and continuous steps in the right direction, so a house like Helena suggests may work for some. I think the idea is great and I hope you find a circle of people to be successful in living on this path. It is of TREMENDOUS value to be close to others who share the common goal. I am, every day, striving to bring my home more to raw, this group is where I find my strength, determination and perseverance to continue. Guest guest Posted December 7, 2004 Report Share Posted December 7, 2004 here's how it worked at the raw foods community that i lived in many years ago: two people were assigned to prepare breakfast for everyone and two people were assigned to prepare dinner for everyone. we rotated so that everyone had a turn to prepare and had many turns to just be served. we ate together -- usually sitting in a circle in the backyard (this was in miami). most of us had jobs to go to so we were on our own for lunch. it was very easy to stay on the raw foods diet with two of our meals prepared for us. namaste... helenasatvic vegan <satvicvegan wrote: Is anyone interested in creating an intentional raw foods community in the Washington, DC area?
