Guest guest
I have completed 10 days on master cleanse. I did a colon flush(enema) and really bad stuff came out. I am considering continuing the cleanse for longer and doing more enemas. Is this recommended? I am really ready to eat, mostly because I love food and miss it so much. Can anyone tell me if doing repeated enemas is safe and if so should I be supplementing with something? I have heard that too many can deplete needed nutrients and since I have little to spare on the no food plan I want to be safe. Thanks. Guest guest
What is the master cleanse and where would one find information about it? Thanks in advance. - Sonia On 4/25/05, Dana <danapettaway wrote: > > > I have completed 10 days on master cleanse. I did a colon flush(enema) > and really bad stuff came out. Guest guest
Greetings Dana, I have a couple of ideas on this subject from my research and my experience. The first is that you can overfast. It is better to fast systematically on a continual basis rather than try to undertake an extended fast, and your language supports that, “I love food and miss it so much.” If you fast too long, once you break it you could go into a binging crisis and really damage yourself. So for example instead of a 40 day fast, in my opinion I think it’s more effective fasting 1-3 days a week for 40 consecutive weeks, or forever for that matter. If you are able to take on an extended fast and not be emotionally hung up on food then great, go for it. However, food is usually very emotional for all of us. Going slowly in baby steps is more recommended. I like the idea of fasting at least one day a week because it’s continual and you are always thinking about it so it becomes a part of your everyday life even on the days you don’t fast. I’ve heard people also fasting one week out of every month which is also great. I believe the more you think about fasting by doing in continually, how great you feel with fasting, the benefits, etc, the more you remove the emotion of food from body, mind, and soul. That then prepares you for longer fasts without emotionally missing the food. As far as enemas, I personally don’t use them but I’m not totally against them either. I’ve heard great arguments from both sides. However, I do know that with fasting and the use of the correct foods, the colon and the whole body for that matter can be cleansed without the use of enemas and colonics. That is basically done by drinking coconut water solely or mono eating on a very cleansing fruit for an extended period of time. Read Arnold Ehret’s “Mucusless Diet Healing System”. Guest guest
There are pros and cons for everything. Listen to your body. I have not done water therapy in a long while, but here is my two cents ... If your rectum or colon becomes irritated, it's a sign to cut back, maybe to every other day until you feel comfortable. Believe it or not, sometimes you may get a little constipated because you are not allowing the water to stay in long enough to do the job, or it is not getting deep enough into the colon. If I remember correctly, it is ideal to hold two enema bottles of water in at once for a short period of time (15 to 20 minute? ... I'm trying to remember). Then on the other hand, sometimes all of the water will not pass. This will cause discomfort also. If any of these things happen, I suggest you go to a colonic therapist for relief. They have the know-how to completely evacuate the colon. Gloria Long-Ball on Connecticut Avenue, Washington, DC, has served me well in the pass. I have not heard of ones nutrients being depleted due to enemas. Green drinks, and juicing vegetable and fruits can support you while doing a master cleanse. The colon will really flush when you add juices. Be careful, your toilet is you best friend during these times, so keep it near. Also be mindful that certain juices, along with the dramatic flush of the colon, may cause you to be light-headed, especially when you are working or active. Deep cleansing is a time to rest if you can. I hope this helps, James
Guest guest
I have experience doing the master cleanse and juicing. I happen to think that juice cleansing is best. The maple syrup is cooked and cooked. Plus it raised my blood glucose after several days.I am not a fan of the salt water flush either I also agree with Kep about coconut water being a fantastic cleanse and colon cleanser. Incidentally if you use coconut water with your fast you will not be as hungry. I too fast for forty days every year. it does my body good. However several years ago, I binged after the fast. I broke the fast with pineapple and Durian. I went on a durian binge. Which lead me to reconsider how to do my fasting. Well, these are a few of the tricks I have learned. Begin your fast during a full moon. Keep your colon clean. If you think you have weird stuff coming out. Have a professional Colonic, I am a colon Hydrotherapist so I do believe in Colonic. A colonic will allow a lot more water to go thru your system. James recommended a lady he feels comfortable with. It is most important that you are relaxed with your therapist. Personal recommendations are the way to go. Give yourself a Castor Oil Pack. a wheat grass implant is helpful. When you are ready to eat. Make raw blended soups. They are satisfying and easy on your system. Which should keep the bingeing down. Prayer and Meditation are the keys to any fast Lynda
Guest guest
Hi Sonia, There are at least 3 support groups within for the Master Cleanse. One that comes to mind is master_cleanse . I too have done the master cleanse while participating in a 21 day challenge last year. While it proved not to allow you to be constantly hungry (thanks to the maple syrup)I was forced to end it around day 19 when I notice an outbreak of a vaginal yeast infection. In the book " The Master Cleanse " the instructions will tell you to cut the amount of maple syrup in half if you're over weight but it never mentioned any other possible affects as a result of too much sugar on women or men for that matter in other areas. The weight loss was good but I didn't notice any significant cleansing. At least my digestive system got a partial break from it's constant work. As others have mentioned, you must learn what works for YOU whether it's juice, fruit, master cleanse, pure water or coconut water. My personal preference thus far is pure water. Good luck to you and Dana. Elaine

Guest guest
I go into low blood sugar on a water fast. I like the Master Cleanse. The book is available from Smile Herb Shop in College Park, MD. 301-474-8791. It's on a rack of pamphlets. A personal anecdote about the Master Cleanse: When I did it I was 35 years old. I went on a job interview. I mentioned my daughter and the interviewer said to me, "You have a child? You don't look old enough to have a child!" And I was 35! FASTING MAKES YOU YOUNGER!
