The article said that their 6 month old who died was fed

exclusively wheat grass, coconut water and almond milk..

Of course she died if that's all she got.

This is a very sad situation, for sure. I have been following this story through emails on various raw food groups. It is fortunate that the mainstream national media is not having a hay-day with the story. I have a fear that when living food comes around to be more mainstream, this story will be dug up and thrown in the faces of those willing to speak on the subject. And, that if custody of the children is awarded to the parents it sounds like the state will control the children's diet, demanding that the children be fed a denatured cooked diet - rich in cooked, genetically modified soy products, mycotoxic breads....oh, and how about some carcinogenic peanut butter, yum yum. I wish a famous Living Foods expert - especially one with a degree in medicine or nutrition - would step forward to assist in the state in planning for the children's nutritional needs.

I wish I knew more, perhaps someday I will have the chance to interview the family. Like why were the children malnutritioned in the first place...what did their daily diet consist of? Why was the baby not breastfed? (one of the side effects of DiGeorges Syndrom is a highly arched pallet or cleft pallet - perhaps this is why the baby couldn't nurse?) I remember reading in one article a while back, that the children reported being hungry after meals, but were afraid to say anything to their parents. Also, that they were given wheatgrass enemas. (I'll reserve judgement on that last comment.) I am sure the family cannot speak to any of the questions we as a community have since the trial is not over yet. What a nightmare it must be for them. This story has provoked me to research (just a tiny bit so far) the current information out there on raising raw

babies. Dr. Gabriel Cousen's seems to have written the most thus far, or at least his material was the easiest to get a hold of. (I am familiar w/ Storm's family also, and if anyone has some other good sources to reccommend I would appreciate it.) In 'Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine' he discusses which foods could be introduced to babies under 6 months of age if breast milk is not available. The list is as such: ~ fresh young coconut water ~ wild-crafted red banannas ~ apple, peeled ~ pear, peeled ~ cucumbers, peeled ~ ripe avocado ~ almond mylk (as breast milk supplement if necessary) Although he doesn't mention wheat grass, it is very high in minerals, so perhaps a good choice. However, I also know that people who have wheat allergies also tend to be sensitive to wheatgrass. I would have to research

that more to see if there is any harm (or perhaps someone in this group could comment). If nothing else, hopefully this has provoked all parents feeding their children a living diet to educate themselves on what is best practice to raising raw babies and children. I've heard about this situation, but do not have a lot of

information about it. I have the same concern about bad press. I

understand the baby had a cleft lip and could not breastfeed. This

was the 1st problem. Trying to duplicate breast milk is no easy

task. However, I do have a recipe that might be pretty good.

I call it mother's milk:

3/4 c. Hemp seed nut

1/4 c. Almonds

1 T. Flax/Borage Oil

1 T. coconut oil

1/4 C wakame (other seaweed may due)

1/2 t. sea salt

1 T. agave nectar

3 T. Tocotrienols, Rice Bran Solubles

1. Mix all ingredients in a Vita-Mix (blender) and use a nut milk

bag to strain out the fiber.

You can add green grasses and double the coconut oil for babies.

I've been drinking this, while I've been pregnant (now close to 6

months).

For a protein drink I add 2 scoops of hemp protein powder and some

fruit (since I'm pregnant I need lots of protein).

I saw on Gabriel Cousen's website a listing about a Raw Baby Study,

but I could not find any information. I have a friend that works at

the Tree of Life and I'll see if I can get more information on this

to share.

Wishing you all a healthy and happy holiday!
