Guest guest
Greetings All: The site has been down for about a month, stating that they are restructuring. I have called and sent an email, both which have gone unanswered. I want to try Rawvolution, but a part of me cannot justify $155 a week, so I have held off. Any suggestions for a raw food delivery service? Cheers, Lydia

Guest guest
Hi Lydia, Where do you live? I can recommend some restaurants in your area who do raw vegan. But my suggestion is to give in to the process. Buy a good blender for dressings and spreads, a food processor for spreads and desserts, and a dehydrator (if you want food that resembles crackers and bread). Find your local farmers market and make it a priority to stock up on greens, fruit and veggies. Use them in smoothies, salads, marinated dishes, and juice them in any combination until you find some you like. It is really hard to remember all of the amazing combinations and flavors, so you have to try and be creative every day. Just a little creativity goes a long way when you are on a raw vegan plan. Its just about chopping up the ingredients and combining them with your choice of sea salt, olive oil, spices, herbs, peppers, garlic, ginger, etc...You will find that everything tastes pretty good after awhile. I host a monthly potluck in Baltimore if you are interested in attending. I recommend starting a potluck which is totally raw vegan. It may be small at first, but it will grow and become a time of mutual support and encouragement. Not everyone has to be a raw vegan to participate, but you will find yourself becoming interested in all the dishes people come up with. There is more variety than you can imagine. Also, do not be discouraged by the prices for raw vegan delivery or restaurant foods. The preparation can be time consuming when uncooking for large amounts of people and the ingredients can be costly. Dehydration takes 24-48 hours sometimes, so it can be time consuming. I delivered food to a freind for a few weeks and it was a lot of work preparing, packaging, and delivering the food, and this was only for one other person. It is much easier for me to make a variety of food I like, then place it in containers in the fridge so that I can mix and match them throughout the week. Examples are: Kale Salad w/ a variety of chopped veggies marinated in sea salt, lemon, tahini, and olive oil. Hummus w/sprouted garbanzos, sundried tomato, garlic, soaked cashews, salt, olive oil, lemon. Raw olive tapenade w/sundried tomato and garlic and olive oil Sunny sead bread w/milled flax, milled raw sunflower, red pepper, celery, jalapeno, lemon, and sea salt. Raw pesto w/basil, pine nuts or walnuts, olive oil, garlic, sea salt, touch of lemon. Shaved zucchini pasta with marinara - blend a gazpacho type sauce and toss with the zuchini Spinach/arugula salad with simple lemon, olive oil dressing. Green smoothie with kale or romaine and mixed fruit. I keep a big blender full handy during the mornings. And of course having fresh greens for salads on hand is the best. Use berries, green apple, avocado, and red peppers whenever possible. This is not raw, but I use cooked organic kidney beans from time to time to make the salad very hearty. Kidney beans are one of the few beans that cannot be sprouted because they become toxic. Thank you for your question. Guest guest
Michael, Thanks again for the wealth of info. Its not that I cannot afford the delivery service, its just that I have a wierd habit of being able to justify the things that I don't really need or could really do without and question other things. (i.e. those which contribute to my overall health)I am full of questions and have been reading and absorbing as much as I can. Here is the problem. I am NOT a 'domestic diva' and my cooking, or rather, 'uncooking' skills are questionable.Dangerously questionable. I went out and purchased just about every appliance that was suggested- juicer, sprouter, spiralizer, mandoline, etc. and they are all collecting dust. I'm trying to regroup and prioritize so please bear with me. I know that perhaps I'm making this more difficult/ complicated than it should be, but I'm the type of person that would like to be catered to rather than put the effort forth. (in the kitchen) I mean that in the best way possible. I rip and run so much, that easy accesibility and convenience are huge factors for me. I'm very social and find myself dining out at least 3-4 times a week, play in 2 sports leagues and work crazy hours in the medical field. I know this will work out in the end, but this is where I stand at the moment. Cheers, Lydia
Guest guest
Thank you for the recipe with the steel cut oats. I went and purchased the items from Wegmans and will attempt to make this. Cross your fingers for me... Thanks!
