Guest guest
Hello All, I had a fortuitous opportunity to talk to Loren Lockman this morning. Some of you may have heard him talk at the Portland Festival last year. He is a fabulous raw food/fasting speaker and teacher. He has been booked for seminars all over the U.S. and Europe, and runs a fasting clinic in the Washington D.C. area. He will be traveling to England and France later this Spring. However, he is keen to come to Seattle for a one-day seminar if we can get everything arranged for his only window of availability, March 16-17. Yes, only two and a half weeks away. What I need now is to find out how many people would be interested in attending. It is as yet undetermined whether we would do one full day, 7-hour seminar on Saturday or Sunday, or break it into two 4-hour sessions, on Saturday and Sunday. It will be Loren's preference. The cost will most likely be $90 for the full day (or both days), and it will be held at Bellevue Community College. Loren said he would like to meet as many people as possible while he's here, so we'd definitely do some kind of reception/potluck as well. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from someone who knows his stuff and walks his talk! If any of you have seen Loren's video, you know what a knowledgeable and dynamic advocate he is for raw food and fasting. He has generously offered to come out and do a seminar for a minimum of 10 people, which would barely cover his expenses. Let me know if you have questions; feel free to contact me directly. Thanks!! Guest guest
yey...lockman's coming to town, just one question that i have...after attending his presentation at the last portland festival, and watching his tape, and reading his pamphlets, and most probably seeing him again this year pretty soon in portland, what greater value can we all create by his coming all the way to seattle and us attending the seminar... i mean, is it really worth the sweat, i personally like him more than any other presenter today, and i'd like to hear him again, BUT not with the same stuff we already seen/heard so far, is this a fair question before we make an arrangement, did you talk about the content of the seminar ? ... of course, there are many people, who would want to see him, people who never saw him talking, for those it is absolutely recommended, it would be their most valuable investments of the year, maybe of their whole life, yes, if i know more about it, i'll be absolutely there, did anybody prepay for lockmans 8-part pamphlet series, and have you received anything so far, because i haven't, in six months.... hmm... --- Nora Lenz <nlenz wrote: > Hello All, > I had a fortuitous opportunity to talk to Loren > Lockman this morning. > Some of you may have heard him talk at the Portland > Festival last year. Guest guest
I, personally, would like to see an event with Loren in a large venue and less expensive where we can introduce Loren and raw foods to a lot of new people. An event like that could be followed up by a more in depth seminar for those interested. That kind of event would be best planned well in advance. I realize Loren has an opening now and may not be available for a while. If there is enough interest now, take advantage of the opportunity. Guest guest
Atilla, You pose some very good points. Yes, I too would like to hear some new information. Surely he must have several types of seminars in his " back pocket " he could pull out for us. :-) If he did a " beginner " type seminar for the first half (similar to his video) and an " advanced " type seminar for the second half--- that would be way cool! They were asking our group for help and there doesn't seem to be much interest from our Seattle group. We should plan a potluck immediately before or after, with Loren. Also, sombody could host a potluck the very next weekend, to plug new people into. Any more ideas? I know EarthSave had good turn-outs for " raw " speakers (Michelle) at their potlucks. If they were to host an event with our help and a " raw " speaker like Loren, we could probably bring out a very large crowd. This is something I'll be addressing with Anil (EarthSave Seattle). EarthSave prints 10,000 newsletters, so they can reach a lot of people. It would be a good partnership! Especially since the current board of directors is very " raw friendly. Guest guest
Yes, that is a super idea, Jeff. Too bad time is so short. It looks like Loren will be giving a talk in Port Townsend on Friday the 15th, then back to Seattle for a potluck Saturday night, the seminar on Sunday and then he'll leave directly after that for a talk in Vancouver, BC. on Tuesday. It's turning out that our concerns that this effort wouldn't be worthwhile were not founded. Loren will be reaching lots of people during his visit that might not be motivated to travel to Portland to see him. Hopefully Loren will have a good experience here so he'll be willing to come back. Jeez, if we put a flyer in each one of those 10,000 newsletters, we could really draw a crowd. I'll be sure to mention the idea to Loren while he's here. In the meantime, Jeff, could you take some flyers to the Earthsave potluck next week and put the word out about the seminar? Let me know and I'll get them to you. Guest guest
I certainly hope Loren would be interested (as well as EarthSave) in such an event. In the mean time, we can certainly email the EarthSave Seattle list regarding your event. The potluck isn't until the 14th, so it wouldn't give much advanced notice, though we can still share the news there. Jeff > Yes, that is a super idea, Jeff. Too bad time is so short. Guest guest
yes, please! Let me know how I can make that happen, getting it on the Earthsave email list. Can you do it? I can email you the flyer so you can have all the info. It's in MS Publisher, is that okay? If not, I can send it in Word. Thanks a bunch, Jeff. Guest guest
as for myself, i haven't seen loren lochman yet, as i am newer to this stuff. and i will be moving away in may, so i won't see him in the summer. so i am excited about seeing him in march, if that happens. if his presentation is sunday, count me in, i am there. joe >"Nora Lenz" >RawSeattle >RawSeattle >Re: [RawSeattle] Exciting news >Wed, 27 Feb 2002 20:46:07 -0800 > >Hey Attila, thanks for asking. Guest guest
Hi, Is that the 15th of March? I live about ten minutes from Port Townsend, I'd be interesting in listening to his talk, how much is it? Guest guest
I don't know, I'm not organizing that part. You can contact Robin at the Annapurna Inn. She has a website, you might try annapurnainn.com or something like that, or you could contact Loren directly (www.tanglewoodwellnesscenter.com).
