Guest guest
I'm experiencing severe pain upon urination. This isn't the first time this has happened. In the past, there were no signs of infection. The pain is intense and lingers for some time. So, what can I do to relieve the pain? And if there is an infection, is there an alternative to antibiotics? Any suggestions for relief or resources you can recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paula

Over the years, on rare occasions, I have had a similar pain and even burning, along with an intense need to use the restroom, even if I really didn't have to go that bad. I've never been diagnosed with stones of any kind, but the experience made me think of the passing of small stones. I felt the need to drink lots of water and flush out. I've found that helps. After a couple hours and a few trips to the restroom, the pain/burning passes (perhaps literally!). As I mentioned I have had this a number of times, but it occurs very infrequently, perhaps once every 1-3 years. Jeff
Guest guest
Thanks Jeff. Yes, I also get that urgency to get to the restroom. 'll try flushing my bladder/tract. Though more water means more trips to the bathroom and more pain. So, I'm not thrilled about it :-( Paula - Jeff Rogers RawSeattle Sunday, April 28, 2002 11:16 AM Re: [RawSeattle] urinary pain I'm experiencing severe pain upon urination. Guest guest
If you do think it is an infection there is an alternative to antibiotics. I would recommend colloidal silver, works great. Look for 30 ppm or less, clear is better (it should look like water) 1 oz three times daily for a week should kick it. It also works great externally for any irritation. Guest guest
Hi Paula Greetings from England! The pain sounds like cystitis to me, and I know how painful it can be, because I had it myself recently (I am 5 months pregnant and this is quite common apparently). It can be caused either by bacterial infection, or non-bacterial, such as bruising to the urinary tract or urethra etc. Sometimes you may even see a little blood, but don't panic! The best way to treat it is to avoid sugars (fruit) for a day, as much as possible (sugar tends to aggravate it), drink cranberry juice (this is a well known 'cure' for cystitis), drink lots of water (already suggested, and a must) and to take it easy. It should go on its own without any antibiotics needed. If you are OK to fast, this would be preferable. Perhaps it has even gone by now as I only picked your message up today (Monday). Warm wishes Karen - Paula M Belcher RawSeattle Sunday, April 28, 2002 9:40 PM Re: [RawSeattle] urinary pain Thanks Jeff. Yes, I also get that urgency to get to the restroom. Guest guest
Try juicing organic cranberries--they combat bladder infections and UTI (urinary tract infections). Becky Brightestblesser

I am currently having all the urgency/stinging pains previously mentioned. I was diagnosed with 4 consecutive urinary tract infections (all treated with antibiotics) after my daughter was born 5 years ago. Then nothing until now. I have a 9-month-old now. Same exact symptoms. Trin
Guest guest
Trin. I'm in Portland, but I found it at a natural foods store. If you're in Seattle try Rainbow on 15th (Capital Hill), Whole Foods, or PCC. Guest guest
Trin, Yes, colloidal silver is entirely vegan. It is only silver molecules held in suspension in water by its negative electrical charge. Colloidal silver is effective against 600 known bacteria, viruses and fungi. Antibiotics are only effective against bacteria, and only 12 strains at that. No side effects if you use a true electro colloidal preparation. The ingredients should not list anything besides silver and water. If it is yellow in color that is an indication that the silver particles are clumped together. Clear is best but very hard to find. Colloidal silver is quite expensive so I have invested in my own generator. If you get to Olympia I would be willing to get some to you for a much better price than in the stores. It's pretty fascinating stuff, browse the web for more info.... Michelle --- trinjoy <trinanddave wrote: > > colloidal silver, works great. Guest guest
Hi Trin- Try juicing organic cranberries. It has always worked for me but you have to drink alot of it. You could also get the cranberries in capsule form (organic is best). I would try your local health food store for these. If your not necessarily interested in purchasing organic they can be found in almost any vitamin aisle. Wal Mart even carries them!!! Hope to hear your feeling better soon. Guest guest
We always aim for organic, but since it was all I found (at TJ's or Fred Meyer's natural section), I have been drinking cranberry juice (100%, but not organic). Sour stuff! That's ok, though, I don't mind much. Still in pain, though I am used to it by now so it's more bearable. I have been procrastinating on getting colloidal silver. Maybe today... Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Trin
