Raw Food Dining in Seattle

I will be in Seattle this coming Saturday to visit SAM with some

friends. One of my friends is very anxious to try raw foods (more

than just salad). Until Karen gets back from AZ and opens Sun Raw, I

don't think there are any raw restaurants. Are there any places that

serve raw dishes? I think there's someplace that you go for dinners

occasionally .....

Thanks for your help!

Annette

P.S. It was great fun to see Linda, Tim, and Jeff at the Festival

(and Michele for just moments). Congratulations, Jeff, on a great job

done with your Vice Cream!

Annette,

Thanks for the congrats!

Unless someone hosts a potluck, the best bet is Cafe Ambrosia

http://www.cafeambrosia.com/index2.htm

They serve gourmet organic vegan food. When given enough notice (a

couple days or more) they will prepare a 3-4 course raw meal. I've

been very happy with the raw food they serve. I don't know of any

other veg restaurant that serves organic raw food. Some serve salads,

etc., but not necessarily organic.

If you go, let me know how you like it.

Thanks, Jeff! Great site they have. Since this is going to be an up-

and-back-on-Saturday trip, I won't be able to stay for dinner. (I

hadn't said that in my message.) I got all excited when I read about

the all-raw dinner on the 30th -- until I woke up and realized that

August 30th has past. Did anyone go?

Hi, Annette. How are you doing? I planned to go to see the exhibit at SAM

too but haven't got around to.

If you can make it to the farmer's market in U-district on Saturday, you can

get some fresh local stuff to munch on. It's the melon season now. Last week

there were several kinds of cantaloupes, honeydews, ambrosias, char n' tes,

etc, from the River Farm. Nectarines from the RAMA farm were pretty good.

Watermelons were quite expensive. There were some transitional melons that

were cheaper but quality was not very good. There were still strawberries,

blueberries. There were cucumbers, corns and of course tomatoes of all

sorts. I got good apples too, from Michael and Liza. The farmer's market is

located at University way and 50th St., openning from 9 am to 2 pm.

The funky little restautant " Good Morning Healing Earth " (instead of the

long name I call it " the Rainbow House " ) is not far from the farmer's

market, at the corner of 9th Ave. and 55th St. It opens all day Saturday.

It's vegan organic. George serves very good salad in a big wooden bowl with

his house dressing. He serves Multipure-filtered water and rinces his

veggies with the purified water. Besides salad and banana ice cream he also

makes carrot juice with Champion juicer. I am going hiking with a Chinese

group, otherwise I would love to meet you guys at farmer's market and go

visit SAM with you. Hope the weather will be nice for your visit in Seattle.

Sounds like this will be just the place to go. My two friends will be

on foot, having come on the ferry, so they'll be captive and go where

I go. One of them is curious about raw and wants to taste dishes

(other than salad), so we might have to come back up for dinner some

time.

I just might stop by the farmers' market to get some things to bring

home. Helen listed some nummy sounding things.

[Helen, I hope you have a great hike!]

Too bad this is an up-and-back-in-the-same-day trip for me. It would

be fun to stay longer and see some of you. [Where's Mark?]

Thanks for the suggestions.

Annette
