Guest guest
I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart, Raw Seattle, for the astonishingly delightful potluck tonight at Linda and Tim's house! I am deeply grateful for the enticing and satisfying cornucopia of Raw Food. Up until now, I wasn't sure I could do this. But if the food is like THAT . . . well, it might be possible, even in my omnivorous household (sigh). 30 happy healthy people, and their amazing food, makes for a pretty inspiring spectacle. Thank you for being such a blessing to this confused newbie (starting on my fourth week of rawness!). And, um, if anyone (who hasn't already) would be so kind as to post their recipe to the Raw Seattle site, I would be eternally grateful. Because I am a rabid fan of every dish I tasted!!!! Guest guest
Sounds like I missed quite a potluck!!! But, alas, I was at an omnivorous family Thanksgiving in Colorado, being the lone vegetarian/vegan/raw foodist! All went well and they enjoyed the foods I shared with them (devouring my Vice Cream.) As Sea-Tac was fogged in and all flights from Phoenix (my connecting city) were cancelled Saturday night, I ended up in Las Vegas yesterday awaiting a flight last night to Portland, where I (and two others) drove to Sea-Tac. I picked up my car and headed to Seattle (arriving at work 5 minutes late!). Anyway, I opted for the early flight to Las Vegas (instead of staying in Phoenix ) knowing they had a raw restaurant. I headed to Raw Truth for lunch. After having finished most of my raw foods (apples, with a few cashews remaining), I devoured their special of the day (Philly " cheese-steak " ) and even took two meals to go (to last me to Seattle), quiche and 9-layer lasagna! I must say, being a raw foodist in the city of sin, after travelling and running out of food, their food REAAALLY hit the spot! Thought I'd share my T-day weekend story! Jeff PS: I lost $10 on slots! Guest guest
>Thanks for sharing your T-day story. Can you tell us more about the Phelly >cheese steak, quiche and 9-layer lasagna? > >Helen The cheese steak had " bread " made of large seasoned buckwheat crackers, with marinated onions and mushrooms and a couple " special sauces, " to give it that " cheese " flavor. So, not that it tasted just like a cheese steak, but I certainly enjoyed it. The lasagna, I can't give you too much detail on it other than, before my flight, it was in front of me one minute and gone the next! I practically inhaled it! It was probably similar to lasagnas that the Boutenko's have made, as well as members of RawSeattle. I do recall that the greens were shredded a bit, which made " inhalation " easier! The Quiche, reminded me a bit of a tabouli (sp?) salad, with minced soaked almonds, perhaps some other nuts/seeds, minced up cucumber, all on a seasoned " crust. " I'm not sure of the crust ingredients, but it had a kind of orange curry color to it. Perhaps someone has some non-cook books with recipes for these (or similar.) Guest guest
Jeff Thank you for sharing your experience. I was reminded of past summer event. I was fortunate enough to visit the Raw Truth Cafe this past August. I had taken my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday on the condition that we had dinner there one night. She and a friend of mine were adventurous enough to have dinner with me there. The food was great and I was excited to be in a raw food restaurant! I was surprised to learn that they were open 7 days a week and until 9pm most days. What a treat! If the opportunity arises to visit my friend there again, you can bet I will have a meal and take food to go from the cafe again. Anyone know how Karen's plans on her restaurant are coming?
