everyone starts with a various, complicated

sense of creativity ... but that gets simpler

as one " matures " into the new lifestyle ...

that is " typical " to each and every one according

to one's typical physical , genetical, historical

habitual, seasonal, geografical,spiritual

constitution... yes, it varies a lot in the

beginning, and then it gets more unimportant

what one eats, how many times one eats, ie. it

becomes a routine, just like anything else in

life similar in character ... this takes someone

six month to arrive at, while others need six

years ... people with a well structured ,

better grounded, more stable , more reality

oriented input with a strong, healthy selfesteem

integrate easier the new idea and act on it

more naturally ... others with a more " troubled "

background will have more things to deal with at

the same time , like multiple addictions ,

shortrange kind of thinking method, overemotio-

nalism in their approach to reality and facts ...

many, many factors ... and this is why it is

almost impossible to give you an " average " , a

" cross-section " , or a typical recipe ...however

one should be clear about why one is doing it ...

how important it is in one's life ie. where does

a radical change in lifestyle such as this fit in

the scale of one's value system ... because this

is not a change in diet, this is an overall change

in lifestyle, very radical, very different,

very worth the effort to experience it, regardless

of the outcome ... there is a whole lot to

learn...

and a fantastic and funny way of growing...attila

monte,

you asked what i eat in a typical day, so here goes.

i eat a raw mono-diet for the most part, like dr. graham proposes. i

usually drink water in the morning, workout, then eat a juicy fruit until

satiated. when i get hungry again, i eat more fruit, usually one type at a

time, until satiated. it may take 10 bananas, apples, or whatever to fill me

up. i also may eat some greens mid-day. they are grounding, and i need

them after eating so much fruit. i need alot of calories because i burn

them up in exercise. luckily i can go home to eat my lunch, because all

this fruit can get heavy. in the evening i prepare a salad. the salad is

usually not mono. it usually consists of mostly green leafy vegs, some

non-sweet fruit for variety, and a simple dressing. i almost always eat

avocado or nuts with this evening meal. and about once a week or so i fix a

raw recipe. i enjoy the mono-meals, but still want variety sometimes.

the important thing with my diet now opposed to what i started with is that

my current diet is low in fat. i think my early attempts at raw foods

failed because i was eating too much fat, which later resulted in cravings

for cooked food. i also make sure i get enough calories now. i run

ultramarathons, and can easily starve myself if i don't eat enough. i try

to eat 4 meals a day instead of grazing all day long. mono-diet is so

awesome. so simple. and food tastes better when you can concentrate on

each piece individually. its probably harder to start mono-diet, but easier

to stick with as you don't want to leave it once you experience.

attila's reply is important, as what works for each of us is different.

just letting you know what works for me.

Thanks Joe! I appreciate your reply. I am starting to do something

similar to you, in that I eat fruit most of the day, except for a

salad usually in the evening, I can't say I have the mono thing down

yet, but that's ok, you make it sound appealing, I am sure some day I

will get there.

Thanks again.

Monte,

Joe's diet is pretty much mine. Except I don't drink water in the

morning, hardly drink any water at all actually. Also, Joe's

quanitities are quite a bit more than mine, but then I don't burn

tons of calories currently like Joe. I agree with what Joe says

about it too. You'll probably feel like mixing things a lot more in

the beginning, especially going right from the SAD to mostly raw.

Eventually though, mono is the way to go. For most of my life I've

eaten mostly mono, and it's the best for the body, ultimately.

Good luck, and hope to meet you at a potluck soon!
