Guest guest
Hi everybody, I will be moving into the north seattle area in a couple of months and am looking for a sangha to practice with. Any suggestions? I think it is great that you folks have such a nice big community and have potlucks every week. I really look forward to coming and meeting everybody! I have been raw only 7 months, and am struggling with chronic fatique and other detox healing crisis symptoms right now, but hope to be feeling much better in the near future. Does anybody know a good place to get instruction in foraging for wild foods? I hear that the area is abundant in wild edibles packed with b12, minerals and phytonutrients of awesome nutritional potential! Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions, Paul. Guest guest
Paul, Glad to hear you're moving here. Where are you coming from? I started looking into foraging when I started on raw food too. Right now I just do the easy stuff, blackberries, salmon berries and picking off my neighbors' fruit trees. I live in a south suburb of Seattle that still has alot of undeveloped and uncontaminated greenspace right in our neighborhood. I've purchased several good books on the wild foods and made a few contacts, but would like to find an instructor or mentor. Several community colleges have offered courses in the past but the ones I checked into were dropped due to lack of enrollment. Most books and classes seemed to focus more on cooking the wild foods and don't feature much in the way of "meals ready to eat". If anyone else has better resources than I have found, or would like to lead foraging expeditions please let me know. Guest guest
I am also very interested in foraging! I've been trying to find an instructor/mentor for a couple years. I've also bought books, but it is a tedious process trying to match a photo in a book to a plant in the woods. I found someone at Victoria's class who said he had the experience and knowledge to lead groups, etc., but I lost touch with him and don't even remember his name now. If anyone knows of an experienced forager who could lead a small group, I'd love to plan something for later this Spring or whenever it makes sense to do so (when there is food!). Is anyone else interested in a foraging expedition? Nora Nick Hein wrote: Paul,Glad to hear you're moving here. Where are you coming from? Guest guest
Hi Nora, I am interested in foraging, in fact I do it now (I don't know enough to teach). Spring is about when I'll have some time again (I am hoping!). If you are keeping a list please put me on it! My server's filter reported that there was a virus in the attachment you sent with this and made it inaccessible to me, so I don't know what was in it. If anyone knows any raw foodists looking for house share please pass the word and let me know!
