Guest guest
As you know, almost all of the juices you can buy off the shelf these days, such as Columbia Gorge, Happy Planet & Odwalla etc, are " flash " pasteurized. Does this mean they are not raw, or does the " flash " pasteurization leave some enzymes still intact? Thanks, and it was good to meet some of you at Sunday's potluck, Paul
Guest guest
Hi Paul, Flash pasteurization happens faster than regular pasteurization, and also at a lower temperature. I don't know if it is better or worse than regular pasteurization. I personally don't think that it is live or raw. There is also Ultrpasteurization, which is I believe for a shorter time period than Regular but at a much higher temp, you will usually notice a much longer shelf life on those products which is also a clue as to the 'life' (or lack thereof) left in the juice. Here is one link about it (consider the source): http://www.odwalla.com/news/flash.html Monte RawSeattle , Paul Gilland <pgilland> wrote: > As you know, almost all of the juices you can buy off the shelf these > days, such as Columbia Gorge, Happy Planet & Odwalla etc, are " flash " > pasteurized.
