Guest guest
As a result of reading the article " 'Hostile' doctors and teachers discriminate... " I was reminded of the need for support regarding aggressive, defensive, or " hostile " family, friends and co-workers, etc., so created a new . Here is a description. If it is of interest, whether to help you or for you to help others (or both), please feel free to join. There are other groups set up for supporting people in their diets, but none that I can find for addressing these issues specifically. The link to the article is at the bottom. It does not discuss raw food, but many of us, as raw foodists (and vegans) may have experienced problems from some people. Thanks, Jeff Vegan, vegetarian, and raw food support. Description Have you ever been ridiculed for being vegetarian, vegan, or a raw foodist? Do people give you a hard time because of their lack of understanding? This list is for vegetarians (including vegans and raw and living foodists) who may experience some disfunctional relationships as a result of other's ingorance of or insecurities in diets and nutrition. We may vent some frustrations and share some insights into how to help those around us accept the changes we choose to incorporate into our lives. We share resources and methods for educating others, whether that be nutrition or overcoming control issues, etc. My dietary changes have greatly improved my life, while some family and friends choose to use the subject to distance us. I believe we can bridge these gaps! This list is for honest discussions. No SPAM please. No advertisements. Please keep language acceptable for all ages. I do get some teasing at work, but I look at the health of the people who are trying to get me to eat their junk, and I don't let it bother me at all. If anybody needs ridiculing, its the people who put junk in their bodies and then make us have to live with their irritability and crabbiness. Guest guest
Good evening, In response to Ron's observation.... "If anybody needs ridiculing, its the people who put junk in their bodies and then make us have to live with their irritability and crabbiness." It's been my experience that pointing this out just makes things worse. Sigh. Nick Hein Renton, WA
Guest guest
Hopefully, through discussions on the new list, we will find ways to help others widen their view about what is acceptable by them, thus improving relationships. It's a shame when family members and others devote so much negative energy towards something that does not directly affect them. Although we may be healthier and be around longer, etc. Jeff >I do get some teasing at work, but I look at the health of the people >who are trying to get me to eat their junk, and I don't let it bother >me at all. I have learned what works best for me is just to let them vent and not take it personally.
Guest guest
Are you saying that when people are irritable and cranky, that it is acceptable behavior? If they direct that attitude to me when I make a mistake, it does directly affect me. I'm constantly hearing these people mutter at their workstations, " This makes me angry. " They don't seem to understand that nothing MAKES them angry, things happen, and they CHOOSE to get angry about it. Don't take this as a debate, I just want to clarify what you are saying.
