I am not sure how hot the popcorn has to get in order to pop, but my

instinct says no, it is not Raw.

Right Monte. Popcorn--air-popped or popped some other way--is still

popped ;-), i.e. cooked. This is the general consensus of raw

foodists. Hence, Ron, I'm sorry but I wouldn't expect us raw

foodists to bring popcorn to your birthday celebration next Saturday,

March 15th. :-) You CAN expect us to bring RAW treats--an excellent

case in point being Mr. Rogers' [that's JEFF Rogers to you and me :-

)] previous pledge to cook up, er, prep up his famous, crowd-

pleasing, delicious Vice Cream ! Jeff, you RAWk! :-) Way to

dRAW your chosen family to the event. ;-)

Popcorn is not only cooked, it is twice cooked. First the corn is cooked to

get it into the form that you buy it in. Then, when it is popped, it is

cooked at very high temperature to heat the water inside to create steam so

that it bursts (pops) the outer layer. Corn is not only not the best human

food to begin with because of its very high starch content (unless it is

eaten very young, right off the stalk before the sugars are converted to

starch), when it is twice-cooked it creates a lot more work for your body

than it is worth nutritionally.

Thanks for the information. Why I asked was because I was wondering

if I should offer it at the potluck at my place. Now I know.
