Guest guest
Good afternoon, I was just listening to my wife's radio station and I heard an ad for the Fred Hutchinson Center, calling for volunteers. I missed the phone number but I went to their website and got the information below. They are looking for volunteers between age 24-40, male and female, to eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables to see what effects it has. They provide all your food and $500/person. I'm overage, but if anyone else qualifies and is interested in this study please call them and let us know the results. This could be a great opportunity to confirm and spread the knowledge we have about our diet. from: http://www.fhcrc.org/cancer_info/studies/4968.html Research has shown that certain vegetables can change the activity of enzymes that help rid the body of potentially harmful substances, including carcinogens. Genetic differences among individuals can also play a role in how effectively these cancer-fighting enzymes work. In this study we are interested in learning how the interplay of genes and diet - in particular, a diet rich in vegetables - may affect the function of these enzymes. The results of this study could be important in making recommendations about diets that prevent cancer. Telephone (206) 667-7271 Principal Investigator Johanna W. Guest guest
Be careful... The " fruits and vegetables " may be frozen or canned (or dried, grilled...) I once received a packet from them, about the organization (or collecting donations? don't recall). They had a program and had a section on " nutrition. " It was so bizarre to me ( " nutrition " included meats, etc.) I called them. Don't recall getting a call back... Perhaps they are moving forward. A few calls questioning whether or not their fruits and veggies are raw and organic, may sway their criteria. Jeff >Thanks for the email. Guest guest
Very good point. Apparently they'll be sending out a packet of information. If that doesn't include what types of food and how the food is prepared, I'll be making a phone call. Thanks!
