Guest guest
Central Market has a limited supply of fresh jackfruit from Mexico, at $5.98/lb. It smells wonderful - haven't tried it yet, I just got home. See you this evening - Sue
Guest guest
I just called Central and it's gone already! They only got 30 pounds worth and sold it all in one day (yesterday). I've been waiting a good couple years for jackfruit or breadfruit! If anyone sees these anywhere (fresh, not frozen), PLEASE post it here immediately! Thanks for trying, Sue. :-) Nora Sue Aberle wrote: > Central Market has a limited supply of fresh jackfruit from Mexico, at > $5.98/lb. Guest guest
Actually, they just had some this morning...I bought 2 slices, and there were still some slices left. I emailed as soon as I got home. The fellow I spoke with said he's expecting some breadfruit and lychees next week. Guest guest
hi nora. a 3 hour drive into vancouver canada chinatown should easily produce jackfruit. it's pricey, but canadian bucks. in season? dunno? love N > " Nora Lenz " <nlenz >RawSeattle >RawSeattle >Re: [RawSeattle] Fresh jackfruit >Sat, 10 May 2003 11:08:32 -0700 > >I just called Central and it's gone already! Guest guest
Yeah, I've thought about it. It would be one expensive outing, what with the price of jackfruit, gas, time, and the fact that the fruit would all have to be eaten before coming home as no tropical fruits are allowed across the border. I guess I could risk it. I wonder if the border guards would give one the opportunity to eat the contraband rather than having it confiscated. Also Robert hits Vancouver Chinatown pretty frequently and he's never seen jackfruit. Maybe he hasn't looked hard enough. Have you seen it there? Anyway, thanks for the suggestion! :-) Nora nachman laufman wrote: > hi nora. a 3 hour drive into vancouver canada chinatown should easily > produce jackfruit. it's pricey, but canadian bucks. in season? dunno? > love N > > > " Nora Lenz " <nlenz > >RawSeattle > >RawSeattle > >Re: [RawSeattle] Fresh jackfruit > >Sat, 10 May 2003 11:08:32 -0700 > > > >I just called Central and it's gone already! Guest guest
I found a web site based out of Florida that sells Jackfruit online. Go to http://www.lycheesonline.com/products.cfm to check it out. Guest guest
Speaking of which, Central Market has more fresh Jackfruit. They only got two in, I bought one and the other was cut up in 3-4 pieces to be sold by the pound ($5.98). This was as of 9:00 last night.
