Guest guest
[This was forwarded to me and I have no further information. Annette] Greetings! To all those who seek a diet of your own choosing, listen up! The bashing of pure food choices has begun in Miami and could set a precedent for the future. We need your prayers, meditations and monetary contributions to the defense of the parents and their children! The death of 5 month-old Woyah has not been determined or released by autopsy except abuse was ruled out! Nevertheless, due to unfounded complaints of neighbors who do not understand raw foods, the finger of blame has been mistakenly pointed at their diet. The four remaining children are being held by the Department of Children and Family Services and are about to be ordered by the court to eat a cooked food vegan diet in the name of nutrition and against the will of the parents and the children. I know these kids and they would rather starve then eat cooked foods. They will literally have to force it on them. We suspect they already have, based on the children having digestive disorders, diaper rash and allergic symptoms after one week in the care of D.C.F. These are symptoms the children have never before experienced! Charges may be brought against the parents concerning the death and dietary choices will come into question. Raw foods need the best representation and these parents need to be properly defended for their efforts to keep cooked food and all the poisons and toxins out of their children's lives. Proper representation has been lined up and this is a call to fund their defense. Please find it in your heart and best interests to give any amount you can and forward this letter to everyone who can help out. Any lawyers who wish to give aid to the defense team will be appreciated. Any who are certified in raw food nutrition and wish to help or testify will be greatly appreciated. On behalf of the parents, the children, myself and our God-given right to choose our own diets and our constitutional rights to raise our children in a lifestyle of our own choosing, I thank you for your support and prayers. I can't think of anything more ridiculous and outrageous. Parents can feed their kids all kinds of crap out of boxes and packages, yet these parents are being punished because they're actually doing the right by their kids? Amazing. Guest guest
Thanks, Jeff, for that link. I don’t like to comment on cases like these until I read the details. It appears that the baby was not being breast-fed, which is the natural, raw vegan diet for an infant. Wheat grass juice may be considered ok for older children and for adults, but it would not be appropriate for a newborn infant, nor would coconut water. At 5 months, that baby should still be exclusively breast-fed. If it still weighed one pound less than at birth, then that’s an indicator of a problem. Certainly the baby should have been followed by a medical provider of some kind, hopefully one sympathetic toward alternative dietary practices. The older children would also need to be breast-fed until about age 3 or 4, because the raw diet does not contain any alternative sources of high-protein, high-growth foods, such as soy milk would. Although almond milk and other nut/seed milks would provide a certain amount of nutrition, it would not be an adequate substitute for all the nutritional needs of the children. Indeed, the majority of our world (where the breasts have not been perverted into sexual objects) does breast-feed their children until much older ages than in the U.S., which helps with child spacing, which obviously was not happening in this family. It is common in other cultures for children of multiple ages to be nursing from their mother, and our bodies (in their miraculous wisdom) knows how to adjust the content of the breast milk accordingly. It is difficult for young children to eat enough calories from raw vegetables alone. There is no indication that the children were being given fruit, which children would naturally want to eat enough of to provide the additional calories for growth and development. The simple addition of bananas and avocadoes should have provided the extra fat and calories that children need. In regards to rickets: given the color of their skin, the children should be exposed to sunlight as much as possible, since the dark color makes it difficult for them to absorb sunlight. If they are kept indoors and wear lots of clothing, they can develop rickets. Of course, the news article doesn’t address that, so that information is unknown. It appears that the family may not have had good guidance on the raw diet for their children. (Or they were “doing their own thing”.) Since the raw diet is not the cultural norm (but McDonalds is, of course) we don’t have a lot of long-term role models for this type of diet, and most of us have not grown up with consistent teaching on what are the acceptable foods for a child. (Of course, given what I’m seeing in my practice, a lot of cooked food omnivores aren’t growing up with that either…I’d like to see these same standards applied to people who give their kids Coke in a bottle.)
