Hey there Sam,

I was reading your post to the rawseattle newsgroup, and I have not come

accross a fully raw restorant here in seattle yet, however, a couple of

places you might want to check out for some raw options are the 'Gravity

Bar' on Broadway, 'Vegget' on 15th Ave (i think), the Globe Cafe and also

for a much higher class dinning experience if you call ahead (325-7442) and

let them know you are raw, they can prepare an absolutly amazing raw 5

coarse dinner for you - that place is called 'Rover's' and that is at

Madison and John. Well

Have a Rawsomely abundant day!

Hi, Sam -

Of course! There are several vegan restaurants in Seattle, but if you want

raw, that narrows things down considerably. A new restaurant, Chaco Canyon,

on Brooklyn at 50th in the U. District, offers raw cuisine, I don't know

their hours. Previously Cafe Ambrosia would do a raw night once per month,

but they have closed down. If you're looking for cooked vegan, the choices

open up. Good Morning Healing Earth (funky, U District), Teapot (Chinese,

Capitol Hill), Araya's (Thai, U District), and Bamboo Garden (Chinese,

Seattle Center) are some good options. There are several other vegetarian

restaurants as well, including Silence, Heart, Nest (U District),

Carmelita's (I've gone blank on the name of their neighborhood), and Cafe

Flora (Madison Valley) are all good choices. Globe Cafe on Capitol Hill

offers " homestyle " vegetarian cooking, and Gravity Bar (Capitol Hill, on

Broadway) offers a yummy lentil soup, as well as fresh juices. There's also

a vegan sandwich shop in the U District, I don't remember the name. Seattle

is a " hot spot " for vegetarian restaurants. Others, please feel free to

chime in, I can't remember them all!

I would like to suggest that the raw group do an " invasion " of Chaco Canyon

(forewarn them, of course, so they're prepared) on a Saturday evening (when

there's no potluck). I haven't eaten there yet, haven't eaten out at a

restaurant since Cafe Ambrosia closed, so I would be very interested.

Been there many times. It's rather hard to find the first time - go around back

of the address. It does not face the road.

Funny little man in there will talk your ear off about colon health!

This is not a restaurant, but there's an excellent 100% organic

juice bar in Kirkland. They serve juice Mon. - Sat. until 5 pm. I

think they open at 10 am.

Hi all,

I was at Chaco Canyon last night--it's nice (and quite small), and

the raw food was good (about 6 meal items & 2 desserts). They're

open 7:30 am-10:00 pm M-F, but only until 8-3:00 on Saturday, and

closed on Sunday. Don't know if a Saturday evening invation would

work, unless it was set up especially for RawSeattle (and there

weren't too many people). Nice idea though. Their number is 206-

522-6966.

Are you sure they are open on Monday? They didn't open on Mondays two weeks

ago. I noticed the new hours from 7:30am to 10pm but didn't see if Monday

was included. The menu last week was oat cashew porridge, carrot ginger

soup, baby green salad, corn chips with guacamole and salsa, kiwi date tort.

The chips were pretty nice and fluffy.

I know the guy, Kuang Lin. He's a friend. He is nice but ignore his babbling

about the colon stuff. I think he's trying to sell the product. Don't tell

him I said so : )

Yes, in fact I called them to double check. M-F.

Oh, yes he's a very nice man and makes a good glass of juice! And I do ignore

him, but whenever I go to the dentist I stop there after for a wheatgrass and

some sort of juice.

We found that place many years ago when we had to go to all day business

meetings over there. Everyone else would go to the steakhouse and we'd be over

there sipping our juices. And they thought WE were nuts!!
