Guest guest
I agree Jeff, however I have been hard pressed to find a naturopath that understands raw food. The one I used to go to is very well recognized and teaches at Bastyr. He is known for his cancer treatment. However, his food list leaves a lot to be desired. When I questioned him (first mistake) about the choices he replied, " not everyone is a food nazi like you " . He leaves chicken and fish on the food pages of his regimn. Says people don't want to eat like we do. But he's never given them that choice and you know people are going to believe him because he has all those letters after his name! What people don't know they don't know is going to kill them. Shari
Guest guest
HI - I haven't had time to fully follow this thread, However, I am just starting to speak with the ND schools to start teaching Raw/living/lifefood to them. ND school actually talked me OUT of eating raw due to chinese medicine concepts. I will be in Port Townsend seeing my daughter Nov 20-26 and Dec 1-4 if anyone wants to come to PT for appointments, I will be seeing folks then. I am staff pysician for David Wolfe and I am the " other doc " at Gabriel Cousens Tree of Life Center in Arizona. I have also worked a lot with David Jubb. For clarity, I do not agree with the dogma of Natural Hygiene. If want to connect, please put PT as first of subject and email me directly. Guest guest
When someone uses a condescending term like " food nazi " it tells me the person has some insecurity issues, in this case with food and health. That's a shame. When a " professional " is giving advice, he/she should be clearer about what they understand and don't understand. The ideal should be offered, as well as alternatives. Most Md's and ND's probably have never heard of the ideal, so still promote varying degrees of less than ideal. Like you mention, it's all about choice. Tell people what the ideal diet may be, then they can make a choice of what to eat. Telling them to eat food that are far from ideal because people don't want to eat like we do is a cop out. It steals the choice from the patient, or at least makes that choice more unreachable. I'm fortunate, in that my ND seems fascinated with my raw diet. He is very open-minded. He shares the standard belief about certain test results, etc., but then realizes that there may be other explanations and answers. We've been overturning some medical/nutritional beliefs. Guest guest
The idea that all living organisms have the capacity to self-heal is foreign and threatening even to normal, SAD-eating people. Naturally, people who have invested many years of their lives studying how to " fix " the body will be hostile to that idea. Jeff, you are lucky to have found an ND who is open. The fact that he is fascinated, however, tells me that this information is new to him. Why do we seek health guidance from people who know less about health than we do? Because we are all indoctrinated to believe that we need a doctor to tell us how to take care of ourselves. The more we free ourselves from that belief, the healthier we will be.
